Wayne R. Andersen, 85, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, in Ogden, Utah, surrounded by his loving family.
Wayne was born on January 19, 1941, in Thatcher, Idaho, in the Roper home. He was raised in Grace, Idaho, where he learned the values of hard work, faith, and devotion to family that would guide him throughout his life.
Wayne was a quiet, humble, thoughtful, and caring man. He was nurturing by nature and never judgmental — the kind of person who made everyone feel welcome. His steady presence and gentle strength were gifts to all who knew him.
He devoted much of his life to serving others. Wayne worked as a farmer, handyman, mechanic, and restaurant owner, always willing to use his hands and talents to bless those around him. He later retired from Bear River Health. Wayne was also a dedicated volunteer at the American West Heritage Center, where he gave countless hours in service. Whether volunteering at the center, participating in ward activities, or supporting his grandchildren in every kind of event and activity, he showed up— quietly, consistently, and with love. Nothing brought him greater joy than being present for his family.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served willingly in many ward callings and activities. His testimony was simple and steady, reflected more in how he lived than in what he said.
Wayne was preceded in death by his son, Brian; his parents, Ralph and Ida Andersen; and his brother, David Andersen.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Annetta; his children: Jackie (Mike), Jeff (Candy), Craig (Jodie), Kevin (Richelle), and Cory (Stacey); 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lois (Max); two brothers, Dick (Norma) and Johnny (Sandra); and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Wayne’s life was defined by service, acceptance and quiet faithfulness — to his wife, his family, his community, and his God. His legacy lives on in the generations he nurtured and the example he set: steady, humble, and full of love.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 7, at 11:00 a.m. in the Mendon LDS Meetinghouse, 460 South 1st East, Mendon, Utah. Viewings will be held Friday from 6-8 pm and again Saturday prior to the service from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the church.
