ValDean Campbell Fisher

ValDean Campbell Fisher was born October 4, 1934, at home in Weston, Idaho, to Dewey Franklin Campbell and Alice Irene Lloyd Campbell. She married her high school sweetheart, Douglas Lee Fisher, on December 19, 1952, in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. Together, they became the parents of four children: Kirk, Steve, Bryan, and Tara.

Val served her family, community, and church in many capacities throughout her life, including serving a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Family History Mission with her husband in Nashville, Tennessee. Her life touched countless people, and she will be deeply missed by her family, extended family, and the many friends she made along the way.

Val or GG, as she preferred to be known, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, in Layton, Utah, at the age of 91. She was a former resident of Oxford, Dayton, and Grace, Idaho. Since 2004 she lived comfortably on a shared property in Syracuse, Utah, with Steve and Laurie, and later with her granddaughter Lindsey and her husband, Cody Nelson, who became her primary caregivers.

One of the great joys of this arrangement was being surrounded by family. Val loved seeing her granddaughters and grandsons, and later her great-granddaughters and great-grandsons, on a daily basis. To her, family was everything.

Throughout her life, Val worked tirelessly alongside her husband on the farm. She had a great love for people and made more friends over the years than could possibly be counted. Her memory continues to bring smiles and joy to those fortunate enough to have known her.

Her cooking will certainly not be forgotten by those who loved her. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren still make her applesauce cookies, carrying on a small and sweet piece of Val for generations to come.

Val was always ready with a great story or a book recommendation and could happily fill any listening ear with stories from her abundant life. Those stories, her warmth, and her love for the people around her will be remembered fondly. She loved a good visit and a piece of chocolate.

She is survived by her three sons and one daughter, their spouses, and their families: Kirk and Kathryn Fisher, Steve and Laurie Fisher, Bryan and Kaaren Fisher, and Tara and Brian Hennessy; 14 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Douglas; her parents; her three brothers, Vance, Sterling, and Therrall; and her three sisters, Maxine, Betty, and Paula.

At Val’s request, there will be no formal funeral or viewing.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in the form of books to West Side Elementary, Middle, or High School in Dayton, Idaho—a fitting tribute to someone who so enjoyed a good book and sharing a recommendation with others.

Interment will be in the Oxford, Idaho Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at webbmortuary.com
