Stephen H. Foster

Stephen Harvey Foster passed away peacefully on June 10,  surrounded by his family, from the effects of Alzheimer’s disease.  He was born on March 15, 1936 in Ogden, Utah to Harvey P. Foster and Ella Smout Foster. He grew up In Cutler Dam, Utah where he had many fond memories of his childhood years there.

 

He attended Bear River High School where he played basketball and ran on the track team. He met his sweetheart, Doris Udy, at Bear River High. They were married on April 5, 1957 in Beaver Dam, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple on April 30, 1977.

 

To this union was born four children: Stephen Kim, Blake A., Nanette and Bradley H. They made their home in Preston, Idaho where they resided for over 50 years. Steve provided well for his family by working for Utah Power as a truck driver, lineman, substation foreman, and line supervisor. He was a hard worker with an incredible work ethic, building spec homes in his off hours from the power company.  After 33 years with Utah Power, he was able to take advantage of an early retirement at the young age of 51. He then started a new career as a building contractor building several houses in Preston along with apartments and office buildings. He was known for his meticulous skills in the building industry.

 

Steve loved his children and grandchildren and was proud of their accomplishments. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Doris, his children, Kim (Lynnie) Foster, Providence, Utah; Blake (Jackie) Foster, Hyrum, Utah; Nanette (Brent) Mabey, Layton, Utah; Brad (Sabrina) Foster, Ogden, Utah, and a sister Joan (Ken) Bigler, Scottsdale, Arizona.  He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren with 2 on the way. He was proceeded in death by a grandson, Stephen Kim Foster Jr., his father and mother, and a sister Jean (Jake) Simmons.

 

The family wishes to thank the staff of Maple Springs Care Center and Cache Valley Hospital for their tender care.

 

Funeral services will be Friday, June 16 at 11:00 AM at the Preston 3rd Ward LDS Chapel, 155 North 200 West, Preston, Idaho. Friends may call at the Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, Preston, Idaho on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 PM and Friday prior to services at the church from 9:30-10:30 AM.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com

 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org in Steve’s name.
