RIVERDALE, IDAHOSPENCER D. BALDWINRIVERDALE- Spencer Duane Baldwin, 64, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, in Logan, Utah at the Sunshine Terrace Rehabilitation Center. He was born Dec. 3, 1943, in McAllen, Texas, to Jerry and Joye Baldwin. He was married to Debra Lynn Richardson on April 6, 2005 and their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 2006.As a young man, Spencer served four years in the United States Air Force where he received the American Spirit of Honor medal for being an outstanding example to comrades-in-arms. He served in Alabama, England and New Mexico in high level security services under the Atomic Energy Commission. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Criminology. In the 1960's, he became a Louisiana State Police trooper and received many letters of commendation for his excellent service and was credited for saving several people's lives, including the Louisiana State Governor. In the 1970's, he became Chief Deputy Sheriff over law enforcement operations in Beauregard Parish, Louisiana. He owned a number of successful businesses including legal support agencies to law firms. His last position was as a paralegal/ investigator to the Utah State Attorney General's office in Salt Lake City, Utah.He was proficient and had knowledge of many professional skills including mechanics, woodworking, construction, electrical wiring, body work, farming, raising livestock, business management, security systems and even rough-necking on oil rigs. He enjoyed being an amateur chef and entertaining others, gardening, fishing, hunting, and doing home shop projects. He knew how to make a great gumbo and could tell a good story if he could find anyone to believe it. He had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and served in various callings in the LDS church. Above all, he loved the Lord.He is survived by his wife Debra, his parents, his sons Danny (Dawnell), Stephen (Amy), Benjamin (Stacie), his daughters, Duana (Bret), Toni, Shanna, and Kaci (Jared), his brothers, Joe (Susie), Mark (Vickie), Paul (Christine), 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Graveside service and military rites will be held on Friday, Jan. 18, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at the Riverdale Idaho cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.webbmortuary.com
