Shylo Sharlene Adams Uriguen Moody

April 8, 1973 – October 8, 2026

Shylo Sharlene Adams Uriguen Moody, age 53, passed away peacefully at home on October 8, 2026, after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.

From the very beginning, Shylo was an easygoing baby and child, although she was also independent, determined, and inquisitive. These qualities remained with her throughout her life. She had a mind of her own, a quiet strength, and a remarkable ability to face life’s challenges with determination and a positive outlook.

Shylo attended first and second grade at St. Nicholas Catholic School in Rupert, Idaho, before attending public school in Paul, Idaho, for third through fifth grades. She continued her education at West Minico Junior High and Minico High School. After moving to Pocatello with her mother and sister, she completed her education and graduated from Pocatello High School. She attended Idaho State University for one year.

Shylo later married Tim Moody, and during their time living in West Jordan, Utah, she attended Everest College, where she earned an associate degree, graduated with honors, and received the Outstanding Student Award. Shylo and Tim later divorced.

Throughout her adult life, Shylo lived in Pocatello and Preston, Idaho, eventually making Preston her permanent home to be near her family. She worked at Stinker Stations in Pocatello and later at Speckman’s Exxon in Preston before finding a job she truly loved at Preston Auto Parts, working for Mike Beckstead. Of all her places of employment, working for Mike was her favorite. She took pride in her work and was deeply saddened when her health no longer allowed her to continue.

Shylo had many interests and hobbies that brought her happiness. She loved NASCAR, whether watching the races on television or attending races at the Pocatello racetrack. She was also a devoted Los Angeles Dodgers fan, a love she shared with her great-grandpa Jones.

Some of Shylo’s fondest childhood memories were the summers she spent with her great-grandparents, Mary and Gerald Jones. Grandma Jones took her to swimming lessons each summer, and Shylo eventually joined the Burley swim team. Her coaches may have agreed she wasn’t the fastest swimmer, but they considered her the prettiest swimmer in the water. Each stroke was graceful and beautifully executed. It was a memory that remained special to her family.

From the time she was just two years old, Shylo enjoyed fishing with Grandma and Grandpa Rassmussen, creating treasured memories together.

Shylo loved traveling, going to the movies and theater, and enjoying her favorite television shows, including Days of Our Lives, The Bold and the Beautiful, and General Hospital. She loved Disney animated movies, Barbie dolls, and especially her treasured collection of Holiday Barbies, which she collected for many years.

Creative by nature, Shylo enjoyed acrylic painting, puzzles, and diamond painting, completing countless beautiful projects. She especially loved making handmade greeting cards using rubber stamps, cutting dies, inks, and all kinds of embellishments. She attended a stamp club with friends and connected with others who shared her passion through online groups. Over the years, she created hundreds of cards, each one a little expression of her creativity.

Shylo also enjoyed decorating her home for the changing seasons and holidays. She had a special fondness for owls and all things Grinch. She found happiness in her collections, her creative projects, and the comfort of her own home. While she enjoyed spending time with others, she equally treasured quiet time at home, surrounded by the things she loved.

Although Shylo never had children of her own, she had a special place in her heart for children, and they naturally loved her in return.

On September 17, 2020, Shylo was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer. What many didn’t know was that she had quietly suspected something was wrong for nearly a year before becoming ill enough to seek medical attention. True to her independent nature, she had carried those concerns privately.

For the next six years, Shylo faced her illness with extraordinary courage, strength, and grace. Through chemotherapy, radiation, countless appointments, and difficult days, she maintained her positive attitude and outlook on life. She rarely complained and continued to find joy in the little things. She was determined to live her life as fully as she could, even when the road became difficult.

Throughout her cancer journey, Shylo received treatment at the Gossner Cancer Center in Logan, Utah. The doctors, nurses, and staff became much more than a medical team to her. Their professionalism, kindness, compassion, and genuine care created relationships that Shylo treasured. She grew to love each of them and felt that love and care returned.

Shylo will be remembered for her independence, her determination, her creativity, her love for family, and the quiet courage with which she faced life’s challenges. She leaves behind countless memories, handmade treasures, and a lasting example of strength and perseverance.

Family was an important part of Shylo’s life. Over the years, she was blessed with several people who filled the role of dad, each sharing a different and meaningful relationship with her. Those relationships helped shape her life, and each held a special place in her heart.

Shylo is lovingly remembered by her mother, Tina Ross (the late J. Walter); her dad, the late Frank Uriguen (Connie) and her dad Dusty Adams (Kay).

She is also remembered by her siblings and their families: Ande Uriguen (Morgan), Vonnie Shaw (the late Scott), Sarah Hughes, Rebekah Legg, Wayne Bendele (Marie), Eric Adams, Kyle Gochnour (Ashley), and Kellie Mingo (Cody). She is also remembered by Merilyn, wife of her late brother Gary Ross, and Shannon Jones (Chris), wife of her late brother Joshua Adams.

Shylo was preceded in death by her beloved dads, Frank and Walt; and her brothers, Gary Ross, Joshua Adams, and Phillip Adams.

Though her family was made up of many different relationships and connections, each was part of Shylo’s story. She leaves behind a family who will cherish her memory and the love they shared.

Shylo did not wish to have a public funeral. In accordance with her wishes, private family services will be held to honor and celebrate her life.
