Shirley Jean Schvaneveldt, age 92, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, in Long Beach, California. She was born on April 23, 1934, in Preston, Idaho, to Orval C. and Jean Moser. Shirley attended Egypt Elementary School and graduated from Preston High School.
She was a devoted wife, mother, Nana, and Nane who will be remembered for her kindness, strength, generosity, and deep love for her family. She was known as the heart and soul of her family and took great pride in caring for those she loved.
Shirley worked alongside her husband, Blane in building a successful quarter horse racing operation, Blane Schvaneveldt Racing Stable. A lifelong supporter of the sport, she could often be found in her box seat at Los Alamitos Race Course, faithfully cheering on their horses.
Shirley enjoyed yearly trips to the island of Oahu. Her favorite pastimes were watching the Lakers, Dodgers, horse racing and rodeo. She also loved crocheting, sewing, and making the best bread and butter pickles.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Blane Schvaneveldt, and her parents, Orval C. and Jean Moser. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Shonna (Mark) Smith and Brenda (Roman) Figueroa; her grandchildren, Brandi Mitchell, Brayden and Barrett Figueroa, and Julie Burke; her great-grandchildren, Beau, Emerson, and Avery Burke, and her sisters, Lois, Sally, and Sue.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, Preston, Idaho. Viewings will be held Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. both at Webb Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Weston Cemetery following the service.
