Roy K. Esplin

Roy K. Esplin, 88, of Preston Idaho passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026,in Preston Idaho. Roy was born in Preston Idaho on November 9, 1937, to Ralph Milton Esplin and Bernice Stephens Kofoed Esplin.

He was the 1st child out of 4 children but was always momma' baby boy. He graduated from Preston high school in Preston, Idaho. On April 8, 1960, he married Leatrice Talbot. They lived most of their married life in Preston, Idaho except a short time in American Falls and in Salt Lake while Roy was attending school. Together they owned a chicken farm, at one time they had 2000+ chickens!

Roy worked many jobs during his life, Delmonte, Segal Milk, and Pepperidge farm being a few but said his favorite was helping his wife Leat make (official taste tester) wedding cakes.

Roy was exceptionally good with wood working and spent many hours in his shop or with Uncle Don making animals, wagons, water wells, benches or other items to use as house & yard decorations.

Roy and Leatrice had no children of their own but were honorary Grandparents to his niece Hollie’s children Kelton, Kaylee & Kade. He enjoyed teasing them, cutting out wood animals for them to paint, going on rides to look for deer and cooking for all their back yard picnic adventures to name a few.

He was an avid bowler in his earlier years and a master puzzle maker. He always had a puzzle set up and sometimes would do a puzzle a day! He always wrote the date he completed it on the back of the box and one puzzle in his house he had completed over 13 times.

After Leat had her stroke Roy went to the nursing home every day to be with her. After a fall it was decided that Roy would join her and together they enjoyed the games, activities, and "Roy's puzzle table" but more than anything they enjoyed each other's company.

He is survived a brother Gene (Pauline) Esplin; by four brother-in-laws, Clenn Talbot, Alden (Charlene) Talbot, Don (Marsha) Talbot, DelRa (Dawna) Talbot, by five sister-in-laws, Vondelyn Smith, Elaine (Curtis) Mace, ReNae Yeates, Vada (Mike) Vroman, Venice (Curtis) Andersen, his niece, Hollie (Wood) Moser and his “grandkids” Kelton (Kelsi) Moser, Kaylee (Dalton) Stott, and Kade (Bailey) Moser and great-grand son Hudson and by many other nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife Leatrice Talbot Esplin. His parents Ralph & Bernice Esplin, sisters June Esplin and Joan Collins by 5 brother-in-laws, Ted, Allen, Lyle, DuVal, and Kim and 2 sister-in-law, Gloria & ALeda.

Special thanks to the TCU staff for all they did for Roy & Leatrice the past several years. Your love and patience did not go unnoticed.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 11 am at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 E. Preston, Idaho. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Lewiston Utah Cemetery.
