Robert "Bob" Lynn Bickers

On August 16th, 2025, Robert Lynn Bickers , aged 79, returned to his Heavenly home to be with his deceased family and friends.

Born March 25th 1946 in Louisville, Kentucky to Norvin T. Bickers and Kathryne Fay Kelly in Louisville, Kentucky. As a teenager, he was fostered to Larry and Mayme Kelly, who loved and treated him like a son, all of his life. It was the Kelly’s who enrolled him in a Christian Boarding School for his school years, Hazel Green Academy. There, Robert developed long lasting friendships and deep connections to Hazel Green Academy, the town of Hazel Green and Wolfe County, which he always called home. He would join the Hazel Green basketball team and become a lifelong fan of University of Kentucky Wildcats, forming bonds with the local teams in his area and the schools of his children and grandchildren. He was thankful, for the connections and bonds, of going to a live game and or watching on TV, with friends and family.

Robert, Bob or Bobby, as he was called by his parents and siblings, loved his family. He enjoyed visits, meals and especially car rides with them. His favorite thing to do was hop in the car, go to the gas station, fill up the tank with gas, grab a drink and a treat, and go for a long slow drive in the countryside. Many a happy afternoon was spent, sipping soda and seeing the leaves change in the fall or count how many wildlife were out along the roadside.

Robert married the love of his life, Neoma, September 8th 1970 in the St. George Temple in St. George Utah. They travelled by car back to Georgia as their honeymoon, so that he could register for classes at Shorter College and finish his Bachelor degree in Biology. They are the parents of six children: Amber (Ken) Miller, Aaron (Bonnie) Bickers, Sarah (Ken) Jarvis, Rachel (Kory) Kreipl, Samuel “Morgan” Bickers and James Bickers. Robert and Neoma are the proud grandparents of: Celeste (Seth) Payne, Ashlynn (Nick) Hudson, Joshua Miller, Wyatt (Marylinn) Bickers, Austin Bickers, Kimberly Jarvis, Lauren Jarvis, Olivia (Yacoob Al Abdullah) Miller, Keegan Bickers, Emily Bickers, Brett Bickers, and Tyler Bickers and 2 great-granddaughters, Everly and Stocktyn Hudson.

Robert joined the church, June 4th 1966 while in training, after joining the United States Air force (1965-1971). He served in Korat, Thailand during the Vietnam War and loved the members of his Ward and the people of Thailand. He was a faithful member of his Church and sought out opportunities to serve in various callings throughout the years. He was the first to greet new members into his wards. Shaking hands and making friends all the years he was there. His love of family brought him great joy doing genealogy and temple work. Many a summer, the family would travel to old cemeteries and dusty museums to find old records and tombstones. He faithfully served in every calling given to him.

He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Neoma and his 6 adult children and their spouses, 12 grandchildren and their spouses and 2 great-granddaughters. His brothers, Jerry (Marion) Cecil and family, Don (Patricia)Bickers and family; two sisters, Toni (A.W.) Steele and family and Nina Adams and family. And nieces & nephews of his deceased siblings. He was preceded in death by older brothers Charles and Norvin L. Bickers and older sister, Barbara Webster and his parents, Norvin T. Bickers and Kathryne Fay Kelly Spencer.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the Downey 2nd Ward Chapel, 301 E. Center, Downey, Idaho. A visitation will be held Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Military rites and interment will be in the Hyrum, Utah Cemetery at 3 p.m. on Friday.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of EnHabit Hospice, who worked to make this transition less painful for Robert and his family. They would also like to recognize the service and care taken for them by the Downey 2nd Ward and friends who came to visit and share meals and especially the valiant service and care by Olivia Miller, his granddaughter, who cared for Robert in his final days. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at webbmortuary.com
