Richard “Rick” Guritzky, age 70, of Weston, Idaho, passed away on August 15, 2025, in a tragic accident while doing what he loved most—spending time in the outdoors with his falcons and dogs. Rick was born on October 21, 1954, in California to Jerome Guritzky and Dorothea Guritzky, where he developed a lifelong love of the natural world. From an early age, he was captivated by the art of falconry, a passion that would become one of the defining joys of his life. His dedication to training and flying his falcons, alongside his faithful hunting dogs, was matched only by the devotion he gave to his family. He also had a deep appreciation for fast cars and freedom, living his life free of the boundaries that others live within. Known for his wisdom and steady guidance, Rick was a mentor to many and a trusted source of advice to friends and loved ones. He had a gift for listening, teaching, and sharing knowledge in ways that left lasting impressions on everyone who knew him. Above all, Rick cherished his family. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them—whether in the outdoors, around the family table, or in quiet conversations that reflected his deep love and care. Rick’s life was one of adventure, thrill seeking, generosity, and connection. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he shared, and the love he gave so freely. He will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Rick was survived by his Father Jerome (Jerry) Guritzky, step-Mother Marjorie (Marj) Cagnon, Brothers Ronald (Ron) Guritzky of California; Randy Guritzky of California, 3 sons and 1 daughter: Philip Monson of Utah; Mysti (&Jordan) Anderson of Utah; Alan (&Damaris) Guritzky of California; and Kevin (&Kayla) Guritzky of Utah, and 7 grandchildren. Preceded in death by his Mother Dorothea Freedman of California and his brother Kenneth (Kenny) D. Guritzky of California. We would like to thank his many friends that have reached out and provided unbroken support and help in this difficult time, the Franklin county search and rescue for bringing him back to us, and the staff at Webb Funeral Home for being so supportive and helping us navigate through preparing for our final farewell. A celebration of Rick’s life will be held on Saturday August 23, 2025 at 2:00 PM at his home in Weston, Idaho, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory.
