Richard Max Harrold, 87, passed away on July 15th in Preston Idaho, just 2 years and a few days after his wife Merry. He was born to Arthur Lawrence Harrold and Leona Belle Lyons on March 8, 1937, in Alpena, Michigan. He was the youngest of the family, the only boy, and according to his sisters completely spoiled rotten. He met Merry E. Geis while attending college at Central Michigan University and they were married on August 29, 1958. They were married for over 63 years.
He spent his childhood years in Gladwin Michigan. His family owned a private lake in Gladwin County and he loved to hunt, trap, and fish every day and all day. He graduated from Gladwin High School in 1955 and majored in music at Central Michigan University. He played all instruments by ear not having much use for music which drove his instructors crazy and graduated playing 13 band instruments with the clarinet being his favorite. He was the transportation supervisor for the Ceres School District for many years and after retirement, they built a home in Fairview, Idaho, and moved to be closer to the grandkids and their activities.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Lee and Jeff Hollingsworth, grandchildren Afton Perry, Jake (Mekelle) Hollingsworth, Jeannie Hollingsworth, Claira (Chaz) Spackman, 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and both of his sisters.
