Patricia "Patsy" Hedin Jensen

Patricia “Patsy” (Hedin) Jensen, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Patsy was born on September 1, 1950, in Preston, Idaho, to Gustave C. Hedin and Clarice (Thomas) Hedin. The youngest of five children, she grew up on her family farm in Winder, Idaho, alongside her brother, Vance, and sisters, Virginia, Francine, and Ingrid. Her childhood was filled with family, laughter, hard work, and the kind of memories that stayed close to her heart throughout her life.

Patsy graduated from Preston High School in 1968, where her vibrant personality and warm spirit earned her the title of Homecoming Queen during her junior year. Shortly after graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Ronald D. Jensen, in Preston, Idaho, beginning a lifelong love story that would span decades. Together they raised their family in Utah and shared many happy years singing and traveling with the Salt Lake Symphonic Choir, creating cherished friendships and adventures along the way.

Later in life, Patsy moved to Virginia, where she dedicated 25 years of service to Sentara Potomac Hospital before retiring in 2014. Whether at work, at home, or among friends, Patsy had a way of making people feel welcome, seen, and loved.

Her greatest joy in life was her family. She treasured raising her four children and absolutely adored being “Grandma” to her 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Some of the best memories made with Patsy involved piano music drifting through the house, cross-stitch projects spread across the table, competitive family game nights, and plenty of laughter in between.

Patsy was known as the “fun aunt” — always ready for a little harmless mischief, a spontaneous adventure, or bending the rules just enough to keep life interesting. She was truly the life of the party, bringing humor, warmth, and energy wherever she went. Her ability to make people laugh and feel loved was a gift that will not be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Vance. She is survived by her loving husband, Ron; her sisters, Virginia, Francine, and Ingrid; and her children, Shawn (Patti), Rusty, Clinton (Christie), and Angela (Sam), along with her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends.

Patsy leaves behind a legacy of laughter, music, love, and unforgettable memories. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her spirit will live on in every family gathering filled with games, storytelling, and just a little bit of shenanigans.
