Neil R Wooley passed away at the age of 95 on August 9, 2026 at Franklin County Medical Center Transitional Care Unit. Neil was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dona, who he was married to for 69 wonderful years.

Neil was born in Escalante, Utah on January 1, 1931 to Wilmirth and Reid Wooley and was the eldest of three siblings. He was raised on a farm where he developed a strong work ethic that served him well throughout his life. After graduating from high school, he moved to Bingham Canyon, where he eventually joined the US Marine Corps Reserve and was called to active duty for the Korean War. While preparing for deployment, the war ended and he returned to Bingham, where he met the love of his life, Dona Linck. They were married in Copperton, Utah in 1953 and went on to raise five children together.

Neil made a career in the United States Marine Corps. He served as an aircraft RADAR technician and advanced through the enlisted ranks quickly to Master Sargent. He was selected for a commission to 2nd Lieutenant before serving in Vietnam, where he was recognized for his valor with a Bronze Star medal. He retired from the USMC in 1978 as a Major and moved his family to Preston, Idaho. He worked for a few years in Logan, Utah and later worked for government contractors in San Diego and Washington, DC. Upon retiring, Neil and Dona settled into their home in Cub River canyon, creating a mountain sanctuary where they lovingly hosted family and friends.
