Mary Ellen Swann Allred passed away on January 8, 2024.  Mary Ellen was born on August 5, 1957, in Preston, Idaho.  She was the fourth of five daughters born to Aldin R and Velna H. Swann.  Mary Ellen attended school in Preston, Idaho and graduated from the Preston High School in 1975.  She then attended one year of college at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho.

Mary Ellen started dating Jeffrey Guy Allred in the fall of 1976.  The first date was set up by his mother.  They were married on November 3, 1977 in the Manti, Utah Temple.  Mary Ellen and Jeff were the parents of five boys and one daughter.  They spent their married life in the Preston area.

Mary Ellen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She served in the Primary, as young women camp director, and many years in the Scouting program.  Mary Ellen served in both unit and district positions.  She was presented with the Silver Beaver award by the Trapper Trails Council.  She is also the mother of four Eagle Scouts.

Jeff passed away in 2013.  Since then, Mary Ellen has been able to travel with her daughter, Amanda and her sister, Vicki.  They have been to 30 of the lower 48 states and have been to 20 of the National Parks.  They have also been to many National Monuments. 

Mary Ellen is survived by her children:  Nathan (Tonia) Allred of Preston, James (Lauren) Allred of Centerville, Ohio, David (Rachael) Allred of Preston, Amanda Allred of Preston, and Adam (Elise) Allred of Preston.  She is also survived by her sisters: Vicki Swann of Pocatello, Idaho, Barbara Snyder of Preston, Dorthea (Peter) Lawson of Superior, Wisconsin, and Kaylene (Mark W.) Owen of Preston and a brother-in-law, Brad (Pam) Allred of Salt Lake City, Utah.  She is also blessed to have ten grandchildren.  She was proceeded in death by her husband, Jeffrey Guy Allred, her son, Michael, her parents, Aldin and Velna Swann and her in-laws, Jack and Thelma Allred.

The family would like to thank Dr. David Beckstead and staff, FCMC Home Health and Hospice, and the FCMC Transitional Care for the care that they gave to Mary Ellen.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Preston Idaho North Stake, 310 N. State Preston, Idaho. Viewings will be held on Thursday from 6-8 pm at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 E. Preston, Idaho and again prior to the service Friday from 9:30-10:30 am at the church. Interment will be in the Franklin Idaho Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at webbmortuary.com
