WESTON, IDAHOMARLYN MICKELSENMarlyn Lorenzo Mickelsen, 81, passed away Monday, May 12, at the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston, Idaho. He was born October 12, 1926, in Weston, Idaho, to Lorenzo and Cecilia Fitzpatrick Mickelsen.He graduated from Weston High School. He then spent some time working on the railroad in Helper, Utah. He returned to help run the family farm and also worked for George Frederickson where he met his future wife, Donna Smith, who was spending the summer helping cook for the farm hands. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1948. After they were married, he started to work for California Packing during the summer along with running the family farm until he was offered the opportunity to work for California Packing full time.While working for Cal Pack (now Del Monte) he drove truck, was maintenance mechanic, cook room supervisor, and was able to get his journeyman electrician's license. He then became the head electrician at the Franklin Plant. After he retired from Del Monte, he worked for several years as the custodian at the Weston grade school and later at the high school in Dayton. This gave him something to do, as he always liked to be busy.In the early 80's, they moved from the farm up the creek down to Weston.His hobbies included hunting, fishing, reloading, snowmobiling, cutting firewood, picking chokecherries, gardening and fixing things. He had been known to mow his lawn 3 times a week.He was a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he and Donna had been workers in the Logan Temple. He is survived by his wife, Donna, in Weston, a son, Kelly (Roxanne) Mickelsen of Preston, Idaho, a daughter, Jackie (Omar) McDade of Logan, Utah, and 5 grandsons, Wyatt Mickelsen, Cooper Mickelsen, Omar Saleem McDade, Blade McDade and Anthony McDade. He was preceded in death by his parents and a stillborn sister.Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 15,2008, at 11 A.M. at the Weston 2nd Ward Church with Bishop Darrin Thornley conducting. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 Thursday morning. Burial will be in the Weston Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.webbmortuary.com.
