Marilynn Ashbaker Shelman

Marilynn Ashbaker Shelman, beloved mother, wife, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully the morning of Saturday, January 10, 2026, in Preston, Idaho.

Marilynn was born July 26, 1947 in Soda Springs, Idaho to Doug and Mearl Ashbaker. She was the oldest of three children (Melanie and Steven). She grew up in Grace, Idaho and cherished the memories of her childhood. She graduated from Grace High School in 1965. She attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She married Dale Shelman on November 3, 1968 and later sealed October 1, 1997 in the Logan LDS Temple.

In addition to being a devoted mother, Marilynn took great pride in her work. She enjoyed working at Mel’s Drug, Greg’s Pharmacy, Blocks, and Ireland Bank. Her friendships made there with co-workers and people in the community were some of her life treasures.

Marilynn had a love for cooking, collecting recipe books, gardening, shopping, and decorating her home for the holidays. She loved spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. Marilynn enjoyed her daily drives and getting a Coke from McDonald’s was a highlight in her later years.

Marilynn was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She exemplified her Savior’s Love. She served in various callings working with young women and countless children in Primary. She also enjoyed spending time and serving in the Logan Temple.

Marilynn was preceded in death by her husband Dale, her parents, and other loved ones. She is survived by her loving daughters; Camille (Doug) Saxton, Angela (Ryan) Burnett, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a brother Steven (Katie) Ashbaker, and sister Melanie (Duane) Brant.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we are grateful for the beautiful memories she gave us and the love that will never fade. Marilynn will be missed and forever remembered.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800E., Preston, Idaho. A viewing will be on Friday, January 16, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home and on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. also at the funeral home before the service.
