Lyla Ann Christensen Dettmer, born on August 13, 1966, in Preston, Idaho, passed away on February 21, 2024, in Roatan, Honduras. She was the beloved daughter of Lyle B. and RuthAnn Jensen Christensen.  Lyla was a woman of grace and compassion, known for her caring nature and empathetic spirit. She was born into a loving family and grew up surrounded by the warmth of her parents' love. Lyla's childhood in Preston was filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories that shaped her into the remarkable woman she became.
 
 After graduating from Preston High School in 1984, Lyla pursued her education at BYU University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in business. Her dedication to her studies was a testament to her strong work ethic and desire for knowledge.
 
 Lyla's professional journey led her to work for the Franklin County Soil Water Management for over 20 years. Her commitment to her job was evident in the impact she made on the community and the lives she touched through her work. In addition to her professional achievements, Lyla was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and actively involved in various Breast Cancer Organizations. Her unwavering faith and dedication to serving others were evident in all aspects of her life.
 
 Lyla was a woman of many talents and interests. She had a passion for traveling, collecting beautiful treasures, tending to her garden, and keeping up with the latest fashion trends. Her vibrant spirit and zest for life were truly infectious, inspiring those around her to embrace every moment with joy and enthusiasm.
 
 Lyla's family meant everything to her, and she found immense joy in being a loving mother to her sons, Andrew Thomas Dettmer and Alexander Cole Dettmer. She is survived by her sons, along with her sister Julie Ann Cooper, brother-in-law Jim Cooper, brother Philip J. Christensen, sister-in-law Jenny Christensen, and brother Brian Lyle Christensen. She was loved by four nephews, Kyle Christensen, Carson Christensen, Jett Cooper and Bracken Christensen and grandchildren, Hailey & Skyler Dettmer.  
 
 Lyla faced many challenges in life, including the heartbreaking loss of her son, Daniel Dettmer, her mother, RuthAnn Christensen, and her father, Lyle B. Christensen. Despite the pain of these losses, Lyla's strength and resilience shone through, guiding her through the darkest of times.
 
 To all who knew and loved Lyla, she will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and grace that will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. In her final days, Lyla expressed a special message of gratitude to the compassionate caregivers of the Gossner Cancer Center, her countless friends, family, and everyone in the 9th Ward. Their support and love meant the world to her and provided comfort during her time of need.
 
 As we bid farewell to Lyla Ann Dettmer Christensen, we honor her memory and the profound impact she had on all who knew her. May her spirit continue to shine brightly in our hearts, guiding us with her love and light for eternity.

 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024, at 11 am in the Preston North Stake Center, 310 N. State, Preston, Idaho. Viewings will be held Sunday from 6-8 pm and Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. both at the church.   Interment will be in the Mink Creek Cemetery.   Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at webbmortuary.com
