Lucy Nell Ficklin Dill was born April 18, 1946 in Denver, Colorado to Joseph Kenmuir Ficklin Sr. and Alice Mary Hurd Ficklin. She passed away at home on July 10, 2024 at the age of 78. She is the 8th of 9 children, and grew up in Colorado.
She graduated high school in Idaho springs, Colorado, and then attended nursing school. She has worked a variety of jobs, beginning with cleaning motel rooms, being a carhop, waitress, nurses aide, secretary, and then for the majority of her career, was a legal secretary. She also worked in the office at Albertsons headquarters, however the job she really loved was working at the library in Emmett, Idaho.
She married Jerry Eugene Dill on March 24, 1967. Later they were sealed in the Jordan River temple on March 26, 1982. They have lived all over in California, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Idaho.
She loved and became an expert in crocheting, sewing, gardening, reading, family history, and her dogs. Above all, she loved and was loved by her family, immediate and extended.
She was a faithful member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and this was very important to her. Lucy served in all the auxiliaries of the Church, and her favorites were teaching the Gospel Doctrine class and being the Stake Patriarch's transcriber for about 15 years. She and Jerry served a mission at the Mission Office in Boise, Idaho in 2004.
She is survived by her brother Joe (Sandy) Ficklin of Caballo, New Mexico; her sister Penny (Bob) Webster of Wickenburg, Arizona; her sister-in-law Wanda Dill Mouritsen of Meridian, Idaho; her daughters, Christy (Darrin) Thornley of Weston, Idaho and Jeanne (Evan) Leavitt of Fairview, Utah; her step sons Jerry (Sarah) Stucki of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Charles (Erica) Stucki of Palo Alto, California; 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 2 dogs, Carlos and Daisy of Preston, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her siblings Mary Brighton, Celia Baird, Nancy Gaudian, Walter Ficklin, David Ficklin, Eddie Ficklin and her grandson Daniel Stucki.
Funeral services will be held on Fri July 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Preston 3rd Ward LDS chapel, 155 North 200 West in Preston, Idaho. A viewing will be held Thur from 6-8 pm at Webb Funeral Home and Fri from 9:30-10:30 am at the church. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
