LuAnn Golightly Weeks, 83, passed away on October 30, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 23, 1943, in Preston, Idaho, to Donald and Nona Golightly.
On March 1, 1963, LuAnn married the love of her life, Bob Weeks, in the Logan Utah Temple. LuAnn cherished her marriage and the beautiful life she built with Bob. Their 60 years together, culminating in their diamond anniversary, exemplified the sacred and joyful nature of marriage, leaving a lasting example of love, devotion, and commitment. LuAnn’s greatest blessing was her family, and she took immense pride in being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to the generations that followed.
She is survived by her children: Gary (Adele) Weeks of Plain City, UT; the late Ted (Tiffany) Weeks of Kamiah, ID; Eddie (Wendy) Weeks of South Jordan, UT; Darla (Chris) Coburn of Lewiston, UT; Robert (Shalyce) Weeks of Brigham City, UT; Sharon (Jason) Mercier of Cookeville, TN; and Marie (Patrick) Klomp of Preston, ID; 38 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.
LuAnn was one of the most courageous, resilient, and strong women her family ever knew. Throughout her life, she faced challenges with remarkable determination and unwavering faith. She possessed a special ability to find joy even in life’s hardest moments, teaching those around her that strength is not measured by the absence of hardship, but by the ability to keep moving forward with faith, gratitude, and love.
Faith was at the center of LuAnn’s life. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she found great purpose in family history and temple service. As a committed member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, she dedicated many years to preserving the history and heritage of those who came before her. Her years of service as a family historian and temple worker reflected her deep love for her ancestors and her conviction that family bonds extend beyond this life. Her faith was not simply something she believed in, but something she demonstrated through a lifetime of dedicated service.
LuAnn found great joy in gardening and was gifted in sewing, crocheting, blanket making, and a variety of arts and crafts. She had a kind heart, a sharp sense of humor, and a wonderful appreciation for laughter. She especially loved playing card games, although her family often joked that her remarkable winning streak could only be explained by a little creative rule interpretation—or perhaps some good-natured cheating! LuAnn was also a lifelong and devoted Utah State Aggies supporter.
LuAnn’s greatest legacy is found in the generations she helped shape and the example she leaves behind. She will be remembered for her courage in adversity, her unwavering faith, her generous heart, her quick wit, and her remarkable ability to find happiness even when life was difficult. Her life was a testament to the enduring power of faith, family, perseverance, and the courage to find joy through every season of life. Her influence will continue through the countless lives she touched and the generations who will carry her legacy forward.
