Lois Ruth Schvaneveldt Hobbs, 86, passed away on February 11, 2026, leaving a legacy of profound kindness and selfless service. Born January 24, 1940 in Preston, Idaho, to Ruth and Delbert Schvaneveldt, Lois was raised on a farm in Weston, where she developed her warmth and resilience that was always evident in how she lived her life.
In 1958, Lois married her high school sweetheart, Richard Hobbs, in the Logan Temple. Their life together was a testament to devotion; whether supporting Richard through his education or navigating the life-altering challenges of his 1976 accident, Lois was a constant, steady source of love and support. She truly served who she loved and loved who she served.
Known for possessing the kindest soul, Lois had the rare gift for making everyone feel seen and valued. She possessed a sincere desire to get to know every person she encountered. This spirit of connection fueled her years of service, including missionary work with Richard in the Mesa and Boise Temples, as well as a family history mission in Salt Lake City.
Lois would often remark, "Heavenly Father has been so very good to me," reflecting how she lived a life full of gratitude. Her greatest joy remained her family. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Richard. She is survived by her children: Chad (Carolyn), Lisa (Dean), Clay (Penny), and Cory (Julie); along with her 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren who will all miss her dearly.
