Our much loved, incredible and amazing mother, sister, aunt, grandma, great grandma, and great-great grandma, Linda Janese Bird Johnson, passed away from this earthly life on November 6, 2024 at home with her husband by her side.
Linda was born on December 5, 1940 at the Logan Hospital, the last little “Bird” born to Afton and Printha Pearl Hill Bird. She spent her childhood in Mendon UT enjoying all her many friends and the Mendon Traditions such as May Day and their 24th of July Celebrations. She had four sisters and two brothers who have all preceded her in death.
She went to South Cache High where a young man went to one of her band performances and told his friend that she was the girl he was going to marry so they set them up. Linda married, the love of her life, Travis Buttars Johnson on June 27th, 1958 in the Logan Temple. She went on to graduate from South Cache in 1959. They lived in Logan most of their married life and in 2005 sold there home and moved to Clifton ID and then to Preston ID.
Linda worked at the Wurlitzer’s. Bluebird Candy Factory, Moore’s Business Forms, and Fredricos, but of most her life she was a homemaker. She loved being a mom to her 4 children.
Linda loved sports and Horse Racing. They spent many weekends at the race track with their horses and in the winter at the Chariot Races. She played on a commercial Fast Pitch team and played many other sports. She also loved to watch all sports. She spent many days going to her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids sporting, musical or dancing events. She loved being involved with each and every one of them. Linda also had a beautiful voice and played the piano and clarinet.
Linda made friends where ever she went whether it was at work, on the track or in the neighborhoods they lived in. Anytime her name came up others would say “We just love your mom”. She loved to talk and give hugs to anyone. She loved making Peanut Brittle, Salsa and Banana Bread. Linda will be remembered for her generosity and the joy she spread through the delicious goodies she shared with all. Her thoughtful gifts were a true reflection of her kind heart, leaving everyone touched by her warmth and love." She will be missed by so many.
Linda was active in the church and held many callings.
Linda is survived by her Husband of 66 years, her children: Lynette Johnson Pitcher (Logan); Janese (Allan) Cardon (Benson); Jill (Richard) Ballard (Millville); Keith (Michelle) Johnson (Nibley). She is all survived by her 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews all of whom she loved dearly.
