Leness Keller

Leness Keller, 85, of Preston (formerly Mink Creek) Idaho, passed away on Monday April 7, 2014. He was born on April 11, 1928, in Mink Creek Idaho, to Adam Archible and Elvena Keller. He was raised on the family farm in Mink Creek and attended the old Mink Creek school.

On August 5th, 1953, he married his sweetheart, Dora Gae Martin. They were together more than 60 years and never lost the magic. Throughout their marriage, they went on a date every Saturday night, until he retired. Then more days than not, he'd come home around lunchtime to ask, "How about a date?" and off they'd go. He had a great sense of humor and a big heart. He left many wonderful memories, to those fortunate enough to know him.

Leness served his country as an Army Infantryman. Where, on the battlefields of the Korean war, he forged a lifelong bond with Brothers in Arms, Bobby Langford, (Georgia) John Nottingham, (Texas) Lester Johnson (Georgia) and Tom Ledford. (Florida)

He owned and operated the Keller's 3-K Husky service station in Preston for many years. Upon his retirement, he re-acquired the farm on which he grew up, and worked with it his sons and grandchildren.

Whether hunting, fishing, working, or sitting with his sweetheart in their backyard swing, Leness enjoyed being outdoors.

Leness was an active member of the LDS church. He served a two year LDS Mission to the Southern States, as well as in the bishopric, and on the high council. A favorite of many, he enjoyed his calling as a Sunday school teacher for many years.

He and his wife loved to travel and have been on a number of cruises, an LDS church history tour in the U.S., and the Holy Land, as well as several destinations overseas, including Switzerland, France, England, Greece, Italy, Spain, Egypt and more.

Leness held a number of civic service positions, including two terms on the Preston City Council, and 25 years on the Franklin County Hospital Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Adam and Elevena, and siblings Lionel, Velma, Nathaniel, Glenn, Mirtha, Marvel and Helen. Leness is survived by his wife, Gae Keller, his five children: Daniel (Pamela) Keller, Hal (Patty) Keller, Holly (Steven) Perkins, Tim Keller and Chalon (Robert Hall) Keller. He is also is survived by18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He relished taking an active role as mentor and friend in the lives of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be sorely missed.
