Kay Olsen Day

Our sweet Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt and Cousin to many, Kay Olsen Day, died on Feb 16, 2023, peacefully in her sleep. She was as stubborn as they come so her relatives came and nabbed her while she was in bed. What a joy filled reunion she must have had with her family and friends that went before her.

She was born on August 17, 1939, the first child of Harvey Russell Olsen and Lillie Saunders Olsen.

Her dad was a bit of a gypsy, so they moved around some. They set up roots in Providence Utah where she attended high school at South Cache. She lived many places in Utah and Oregon.

After High School she took a job in Jackson Wyoming for a summer.

She worked at Greaves Cafe and spilled soup on her not yet husband, Dallan. They started dating and married Sept 23, 1959. They had 4 children K. Rhett Harrison Richmond Zayne (Barbara) Day Richmond, Kelli (Reid) Callister St George and Sharon (Randy) Bair Richmond.

Her and her husband were married 63 years.

She was very involved in the scouting program, and she used to call her troop her boys. She went on many day camp adventures and loved every minute of it. She loved anything outdoors hunting, fishing, camping, riding around in the jeep.

She worked for Schreiber foods for many years and was their 56th employee. She retired from there and had a blast with her friends. In her later years, she worked at Somebody's Attic as a volunteer and until her fall. She was working Monday and Wed. She loved it. But the highlight of her life adventures was when she was able to watch a shuttle take off and then be able to watch it land. She expressed to me the other day how in awe she was and still is to this day. It was also the first time she had flown in an airplane.

She is survived by her husband, Dallan W. Day; by her 4 children; by her brother, Dee; by her sister, Cherry; by 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; by her brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Ruth Wood; by several nieces and nephews;  and by many friends. She is preceded by her parents, by 2 great-granddaughters, Veda Day and Karley Ann Williams; by her in-laws, Duane and Anona Day; by her brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Arlene Day; by her best buds in the whole world, Thayne and Linda Bingle; by a ton of aunts, uncles, and some cousins. What a joyful reunion she must be having.

Mom we will miss your feisty stubborn soul, you leave a hole. Watch over us and fly with the angels.
