Karma Porter Ellgen, age 70, peacefully joined our Father in Heaven on May 12, 2026, in Anaheim, California. Her final days were spent surrounded by the profound love of her husband, children, and grandchildren. Even in her passing, Karma continued her lifelong legacy of giving and healing by choosing to be an organ donor, granting the gift of life to others.
Karma was born in Preston, Idaho, on April 22, 1956, to Kenneth and Audene Porter. She grew up in a vibrant home as one of 11 siblings, two of whom she has now reunited with in the Lord’s embrace. While attending Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, Karma met the love of her life, Kenneth Wayne Ellgen, in October 1974. Following Ken’s full-time mission, the couple was married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Ogden LDS Temple on November 19, 1977. Together, they built a beautiful, devoted family of six children.
Karma’s absolute priority in life was being a phenomenal wife and mother. While her children were young she created opportunities for growth and skill building while including them and teaching them. Once her children were grown, she held several successful employment positions, though none brought her greater pride than her family. Outside of her professional life, Karma found deep peace tending to her vegetable garden. She was also an exceptionally talented seamstress and quilt maker. Her sharp eye for colors, patterns, and fine details made her creations truly remarkable. Blessed with a natural desire to help others and she was continually seeking for opportunities to serve and uplift others. Karma carried a joy for life, loved gatherings, created playfulness and sought to look for the good in everyone. She impacted countless lives with her kindness and deeply valued the lifelong friendships she built.
Karma’s love and memory live on through her devoted husband, Kenneth Wayne Ellgen, and her six children: Kendra (Bryce) Dursteler, Jackie (Nathan) Nielsen, Devin (Ashley) Ellgen, Brandon (Maritza) Ellgen, Hannah (Michael) Rogers, and BreAnn (Robert) Moquin. Her legacy also shines brightly through her 27 grandchildren. Karma was a constant, nurturing force in their lives, ensuring that every single grandchild always knew just how deeply they were loved.
Karma possessed a powerful faith and a desire to serve the Lord. Her family takes comfort in knowing she has entered into His warm embrace and is at eternal peace, securely bound to her loved ones forever.
