Joseph Scott Nielsen, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and disciple of Christ, passed away peacefully in his home on June 28, 2026, at the age of 72.
Joe built his life around the two things that mattered most to him: faith and family. For many years, he found joy and fulfillment in running the family farm. He was always looking for ways to spend time with his family outdoors. Joe especially loved skiing, backpacking, and hunting with his three sons. In later years, as his mobility became limited, he enjoyed fishing with his grandkids at the pond on the family farm.
Above all, Joe was a man of profound faith. He was very active in his church callings and carried a deep, lifelong love for his Savior and the scriptures. His faith was reflected in his actions; he spent his life serving those around him, most notably his beloved wife of 37 years, Sandy, whom he cherished and cared for with unwavering devotion.
Those who knew Joe will fondly remember his great sense of humor. He was a master of the "Dad Joke," and was always ready with a pun. He also loved gathering around the table with family to play board and card games.
Joe leaves behind a legacy of steadfast faith, quiet service, a deep love of his family and a joyful sense of humor. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Joe is survived by his wife, Sandra Nielsen of Logan, Utah; by his three sons, Shawn (Alyssa) Nielsen of Cove, Utah, Matthew (Michelle) Nielsen of Chubbuck, Idaho, and Isaac (Shae) Nielsen of Logan, Utah; by seven grandchildren; by two brothers, David Nielsen of Ogden, Utah and Michael (Lori) Nielsen of Ogden, Utah; and by a sister, Annette (Carl) Mattson of Ashton, Idaho.
Joe is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Rachel Ann Nielsen; by his parents, Eunice and Paul Nielsen; by a brother, Richard Nielsen; and by a sister, Judy Erickson.
Funeral services will be held at the Logan Fourth Ward Building 100 E 300 N, in Logan on Monday July 6, 2026 at 11:00 am.
