PRESTON- Joan Hugie Garrett Johnson, 76, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2009, at the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston, Idaho. She was born April 18, 1932, in Preston, Idaho, the daughter of William B. and Leona Hugie Garrett. She married Mark W Johnson on Feb. 9, 1951, in Preston, Idaho. Their marriage was later sealed in the St. George Utah Temple.
She enjoyed golfing, bowling, and bunco-always with her friends. She was a member of the Preston Golf and Country Club Ladies Association and she won two club championships. She enjoyed traveling and went on three cruises with her brothers.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved doing extraction work for geneology. She so enjoyed serving with the other sisters in extraction. She also loved going to the temple on Thursday's with family.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter, Michael Howard Johnson (Diann Pap) of Salt Lake City, Utah; Debra Lyn (Thomas) Stokes of Melbourne, Florida; Mark William (Amalia) Johnson of Providence, Utah; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, two brothers, Sidney G. (Jenele) Garrett of Smithfield, Utah; James S. Garrett of Preston; and by a sister, Judy G. (Steven) Porter of Preston. She was preceded in death by her husband, by four brothers, Dale W., Conrad H., Jack and R. Bruce Garrett, and by a sister-in-law, Carole Garrett.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the Preston Seventh Ward Chapel, 155 N. 2nd W., Preston, with Bishop Jeff Elgan conducting. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida and Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
