Jessa-Lee Rasmussen Bell, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and devoted disciple of Jesus Christ, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, at the age of 78. She was born on January 27, 1947, to Jesse and Irene Rasmussen, with siblings Beverly, Leslie, Larry, and Michael.
Born with a principled heart and a deep faith as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Through all of life's trials, some constants remained: she loved her children fiercely and kept her faith in God. Her seven children were her greatest joy, and her posterity was her wealth.
Jessa-Lee was a woman of contrasts—both resilient and tender. In her youth, she was remembered as glamorous, stylish, and strikingly beautiful. She adored music, often singing with a skill and power that filled the home. She cherished poetry, particularly Dickinson, Emerson, and Kipling. She shared her love of words with her children, giving them a rich vocabulary and a lifelong appreciation for language and expression. When her physical surroundings were frustrating, Jessa-Lee would find an artistic expression to display at home. Usually, it was a piece of art from one of her kids.
Home life with Jessa-Lee was filled with music, books, and the aroma of whole wheat pancakes, curry chicken, or beans simmering on the stove. She hummed as she worked, playing the piano for Primary, reading stories at bedtime—Charlotte's Web, Stuart Little, Heidi, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory—and walking her children to school. Many nights ended with her gentle voice singing "An Angel's Lullaby" as her children drifted off to sleep. Even in seasons of struggle, she instilled in her children an appreciation for beauty through literature, music, flowers, animals, nature, and faith. Her most cherished role was that of a mother. Her seven children survive her: Martin Bell, Maryann Leblanc, Jonathan Bell, Kathrine Gustafson, Celeste Torman, Angela Bell, and Emalee Wickham, along with 36 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy of resilience, creativity, and faith.
Her family expresses deep gratitude to the residents and staff of the Rosetta Assisted Living Facility in Pocatello, ID, for the extraordinary love, kindness, and care they shared with Jessa-Lee over the past five years.
Jessa-Lee did her best with the circumstances she was given. Though she faced many storms, she never ceased to love, to believe, and to hope for her family. Her children will remember her as both strong and tender, glamorous and humble, principled and faithful.
