Jennifer Petersen

Jennifer Petersen joined the world on February 17th 1970 as the first daughter of Bruce and LaVina Petersen. She was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, raised on a farm in Thatcher Utah where her love of animals took root, then later moved into Brigham City, Utah which became her hometown.

After not only surviving, but graduating from Box Elder High School, Jennifer took a leap and moved to Baltimore, Maryland to nanny a little girl named Grace. Jen’s time with Grace would later blossom into a life-long bond proving family does not always mean blood.. When her time as a nanny ended, Jennifer made her way to College Station Texas where she met her soul-mate, John Scott Eddy. They married in a magical ceremony surrounded by family and friends in her parent’s backyard transformed into a fairytale on July 25th 1998. During their life together, they moved from Fort Collins Colorado to settling down in Brigham City Utah to be near family.

Jennifer lived a life of adventure and full of spirit. She was entirely unafraid to try new things and experiences. Her creativity knew no bounds from crocheting, gardening, cooking incredible meals, to figuring out solutions to problems in the most unique ways. Anyone lucky enough to have ever received a letter from Jen would agree she was a true magician with the written word. Her lively personality, mastercraft of story telling, and top-tier sense of humour came through anything she wrote. Her love of animals was reflected in her incredible care of any creature lucky enough to have been taken in by her. One would quickly find themselves hoping if they were to experience life as a dog, that they’d have Jennifer as their owner. Jennifer’s love of music and her adoration of her husband lead her to becoming an honorary member of her brother and husband’s band Easy Street. While chauffeuring her guitarist husband, carrying various band equipment, assisting in setting up stages, she made wonderful memories with friends and family. After a beautiful 12 years of marriage, Scott passed away due to complications of M/S on May 8th, 2010.

Jennifer loved the outdoors and being out in the sun. She greatly enjoyed finding a good hiking trail to take her dogs on, camping, and nature walks. She was an expert stick-fort builder, flower-crown creator, and forager of secret treasures. Her infamous wine-time with her mother and best-friend LaVina was a social event; those who were honored to attend will be long remembered.

After many other adventures such as living in Oregon where she opened up her dream bakery; Kaos Kolaches, Arizona to experience van-living, and later to Franklin Idaho to reunite with her brother and family, Jennifer left us to once again be with the love of her life, Scott, on July 28th 2026.

She is survived by her parents Bruce and LaVina Petersen, her brothers and sisters Darrin and Denise Petersen, Kristi Petersen and Rob Minnick, and Grace, who was like her own. She leaves behind 6 nieces and 6 nephews who adored her; Stacey, Brittnie, Hanna, Oakley,Arwen, Alora, David, Logan, Stetson, Daxton, Kolton, Scott, and 3 great nephews; Ian, Asher, Duncan, and one Great Niece, Lily. Her passing is echoed through many others who knew the unique and beautiful person Jennifer was. Her ashes will be spread with close friends and family next to her hubby on August 22nd, 2026.
