Riverdale, Idaho Jean E. TannerRiverdale - Jean Elizabeth Ellis Tanner, age 50, resident of Preston, ID died tragically on Wednesday September 10, 2008 in Logan, UT. She was born April 29, 1958 in Orange, NJ to John Albert and June Brimhall (Clark) Ellis. She graduated from San Pasqual High School in Escondido, CA in 1976 and later attended BYU.Jean is survived by her husband, Joseph Tanner, her daughter Sarah Sherman of Inland Empire, CA, her sons Mark Hobson and his wife Shannah of Orem, Andrew Hobson and his wife Jessica of Logan, Matthew Hobson and his wife Michelle of Austin, TX, Paul Hobson of San Diego, Benjamin Hobson and his fiance Keeley Tines of Rapid City, SD, and daughter Rachael Tanner of Preston, ID. Jean is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Emmaleigh, Amelia, Ethan, Andrya, Richard, Kathryn, Naomi, and baby Howard, her father John A. Ellis of Logan, one sister JoAn Kammerman and her husband John of Springville, UT, sister-in-law Molly Ellis of Nazareth, PA, and brothers Gary Ellis of Victor, ID, Dean Ellis and his wife Lisa of Hauula, HI, Keith Ellis of Holladay, UT, and John H. Ellis and his wife Shirley of Bremerton, WA. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.She was preceded in death by her former husband Don Hobson of San Diego, CA, her mother June B. (Clark) Ellis of Springville, UT, her brother Craig Ellis of Frederick, MD. and her daughter in law, Erin Hobson, deceased wife of Matthew Hobson.Jean spent most of her childhood and early adulthood in Escondido, CA later moving to Logan, UT and finally to Preston, ID where she made her home on the banks of the Bear River with her husband, Joe. She was an active member of the LDS church, attended the Riverdale 2nd Ward and Preston North Stake. Jean was taught at an early age to be generous and loving. Her heart was big and full of love for all. Jean was always there for those who needed help, a loving and responsible woman, providing support to all of her children, her father, and her husband. She had unconditional love for her children, always encouraging them in all of their pursuits and accomplishments.Jean was very talented and creative in arts and crafts and enjoyed working on her family history, composing short stories, and scrapbooking. She enjoyed living in the rural setting outside of Preston. She loved nature, animals (especially cats), swimming, hiking, and was a very adventurous person. She was fearless and determined and loved dearly by all her family and by all those who knew her. She will be missed greatly and forever remembered.Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. in the Riverdale 2nd Ward Chapel with Bishop Dax Keller conducting. Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston, and Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Whitney Cemetery.
