Janet Smith

Janet Smith passed away peacefully in Preston, Idaho on August 21, 2017, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Preston, Idaho on July 14, 1957 to her parents, Ruth Petersen Smith and David Hyrum Smith.

Janet had a passion for education. She obtained a Masters in family consumer science and worked as a schoolteacher for many years. She was also an avid supporter of 4-H and worked in 4-H extension for many years. Even more than her love for teaching, Janet loved her family dearly. She loved sewing and preparing her children for their futures. She was a wonderful mother, sister, and grandmother. She accomplished much in her life and loved and served everyone around her.

She is survived by her children (Troy Carpenter, Sam and Angie Carpenter, KC and Ashley Smith, Chelsea and Chris Jenkins, Brady and Melissa Eaves, Tracy and Brent Boyse, Cindy and Daren Lawlor, Cedar and Heath Skinner, and Wes and Kera Eaves), by her siblings (DaLene Smith, Elmo and Jody Smith, and Steve and Cindy Smith), by 32 grandchildren, and by 1 great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Petersen Smith and David Hyrum Smith.

Throughout her many trials on Earth, she always kept her life centered on Christ. Because of this, she carried with her a positive attitude, a charitable heart, and an unshakable testimony. As Janet lived her life with the motto, “cherish every moment,” she taught those around her to do the same. We are thankful for the time we had with her and will always remember her adorable laugh and warm smile. She has traded her pain and suffering for a happy reunion with her parents in heaven.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017 at noon in the Riverdale Idaho Second Ward Chapel. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 E., Preston, Idaho and Saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment will be in the Glendale Cemetery.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com
