James Alfred Roberts

James Alfred Roberts, 88, returned to his Heavenly home doing one of the many things he loved, watching West Side Football, on November 14, 2025, in Clifton, Idaho with his dear wife at his side. He was born on October 8,1937 in Kemmerer, Wyoming to John and Ruth Clementa Russell Roberts.

Jim grew up in Kemmerer & Grainger Wyoming. He was the 2nd oldest of four brothers. He roamed his beloved Wyoming countryside with his brothers, causing mischief and getting into trouble. He learned how to “cowboy” and was an amazing horseman and loved going on cattle drives. He was known in his early life for his ability to ride any horse.

He served in the Air Force between 1957-1961. He was honorably discharged from England Air Force Base in Louisiana.

On a warm summer day - June 25, 1959 – Jim, and his sweetheart, Dolletta Lorena Harmon were married in a Baptist Church in Holly, Colorado by a Nazarene Preacher. They were later sealed in the LDS Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. Together they built a beautiful life and became the proud parents of seven children: Curt (Janice) Roberts of St. Anthony, Idaho, Chad (Jackie Corbridge) Roberts of Dayton, Idaho, Clydelle (Rodney) Jones of Preston, Idaho, Ruby (Robert) Nielsen of Hyrum, Utah, Clay (Amanada) Roberts of Franklin, Idaho, Rand (Talina) Roberts of Clifton, Idaho, Cheri Roberts of Logan, Utah. They have 28 grandchildren, and 36 great grandchildren and counting.

Jim’s family was everything to him and it showed in everything that he did. He and Mom showed up for everything – every musical performance, every game, every recital, and every event they possibly could. They were always the first to show up – whether it was illness, injury or anything else life threw our way. He was always available to take phone calls and loved to talk to his family. Many evenings after chores he spent with his kids playing basketball, baseball, or football. He loved playing card games with the grandkids. He just loved being with his family.

His dream of owning a horse ranch brought them to their permanent home in Clifton, Idaho in 1975. That dream evolved into a dairy farm where he and Dolletta raised their forever family.

Jim was a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ, and his quiet testimony was known by all around him. Jim truly endured a lot, and he did it with patience and humility, setting an amazing example of enduring to the end for his posterity.

He is preceeded in death by his parents and his son Chad Roberts. He is survived by his wife, six children and brothers John (Helen) Roberts of Twin Falls, Idaho, Russell (Charlene) Roberts of Clifton, Idaho, and Brent (Raeleen) Roberts of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
