James Max Kirkbride

James (Jim) Max Kirkbride, 92, returned to his heavenly home where his wife, Rebecca Hatch Kirkbride, of nearly 75 years has been waiting for him for two months and nine days. Jim was born on January 29, 1933 to Reta Call Kirkbride and James Earl Kirkbride at Dayton, ID. Jim attended elementary school in Dayton and high school at West Side High School in Clifton. Jim had three sisters, Barbara Schvaneveldt (deceased), Pauline Winward, Layton, Utah, and Karon Pope, Las Vegas Nevada.

Jim married Rebecca Hatch on August 26, 1950 in Oxford, ID. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They are the parents of six children, Helen (Phil) Smith, Maxine (Brent) Radcliffe, Alan (Susan) Kirkbride, Lee (Liz) Kirkbride, Glen (Cathy) Kirkbride and Jay (Heidi) Kirkbride. They have 44 grandchildren and 61 great grandchildren and 13 great, great grandchildren including the spouses of their grandchildren that they also count as their own.

Jim and Rebecca were the proprietors of Circle K Sanitation for many years. Prior to their purchase of Circle K, Jim was a contract milk hauler and a field man for local cement companies. Following his retirement he worked as needed at the Franklin County Land fill, and he and Rebecca enjoyed shuttling vehicles for West Motor and Nice Rides.

Jim has had a lifelong love of horses and was inducted into the Southeast Idaho Horseman’s Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed hunting. He is a charter member of the Franklin Lions Club and the Cache Valley Cutter Association. Rebecca and Jim attended as many of their children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities as they could.

Jim was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in various calling including scouting and ward/home teacher.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and Rebecca’s parents, Annie and Walter Hatch, Rebecca’s siblings and their spouses; his sister and brother in law, Barbara and Jerry Schvaneveldt; a brother in law, Richard Winward and a granddaughter, Jill Ferguson.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren and their spouses and his sisters, Pauline and Karon.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 12 noon at the Franklin Stake Center, 106 E Main Street, Franklin, ID. Viewings will be held the previous evening at the Franklin Stake Center from 6-8 p.m. and prior to the service also at the Franklin Stake Center from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of Symbii Home Health and Hospice, Heritage Senior Living, Jessie Vandygriff and Josh and Nicole Kirkbride for their care of Jim prior to his passing.
