Harold J. Goodliffe

Harold J. Goodliffe, 73, of Franklin, ID, died on July 6, 2025, at Logan Regional Hospital in Logan, UT of natural causes. He was surrounded by his loved ones.

Harold was born on August 2, 1951 to Marjorie Opal Jeppson and Irvun Goodliffe, and grew up in Rexburg, ID with his 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Harold graduated from Madison High School in 1969, and attended Rick’s College where he received his Engineering Associates Degree. He worked for Signetics Electronics in Utah Valley, and when the company was bought by Philips Semiconductors, he was transferred to Albuquerque, NM. Harold returned to Pleasant Grove, UT 11 years later, and he moved several times after his divorce. In 2016, he settled in the small town of Franklin, ID, nestled in a tranquil valley with scenic landscapes.

Harold went on a 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pennsylvania at the age of 19. Harold faithfully served in many church callings, and enjoyed playing basketball with his ward. He was a devoted church member, who loved sharing the gospel with everyone.

Harold married Colleen Harvey of Provo, UT on April 29, 1977. They had 8 children over the course of 22 years (6 girls and 2 boys). Harold built a home for his growing family in Pleasant Grove with the help of his in-laws. Harold taught his children how to work on their cars, complete landscaping, and perform remodels and maintenance in their own homes.

Harold enjoyed being outdoors with friends and family. Summer vacations were spent with family going camping, hiking, and boating. He especially loved going to Lake Powell and Fremont Lake. Harold loved picking huckleberries in the mountains of Idaho. He also enjoyed playing card games with friends and family. In retirement, Harold enjoyed surprising his children and grandchildren with spur of the moment visits. Harold rarely drove the same route twice as he always enjoyed seeing the countryside and what the Lord created. Harold routinely picked up hitchhikers and helped them get where they needed, even if it meant traveling in the wrong direction. He also enjoyed sharing his love of potatoes, ice cream, oatmeal, popcorn, and his creative waffle combinations.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Rulon and Henry. He is survived by his siblings Opal Fowler of Eagle River, AK; Marvin Goodliffe of Rexburg, ID; and Anna Goodliffe of Pocatello, ID. He is also survived by his children, Kimberly, Ami (Scott) Eddington, Jonathon and Samuel of Pleasant Grove, UT, Angela (Henry) Song of Little Elm, TX, Tiffany (Thomee) Wright of Albuquerque, NM, Tamara (Heather) Goodliffe of Pantego, TX, Pamela Arana of Bountiful, UT and his 13 grandchildren.
