Gloria Wright Lowe

Gloria Lowe, age 89, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026 surrounded by her children in Preston Idaho. She was born October 8, 1936 in Preston Idaho to Archie Glen Wright and Alavon Marshall Larsen Herzog Wright. Gloria was the 2nd of 5 children and grew up East of Preston in what was known as the “Fifth Ward” or “Little Egypt”. She graduated from Preston High School in 1955 and married Alan B. Porter. They were married for 15 years while raising 5 children in Franklin Idaho. She was then a single mother for about 10 years during which time she lived for 2 years in Logan Utah. She married Dennis M. Lowe on August 31, 1980 and moved back to Franklin. They were married for 27 years before Dennis passed on January 23, 2008.

Gloria was a hard worker and taught her children to be hard workers. When she was a young child, she worked washing dishes at the Idaho Café in Preston where her mother and grandmother worked. At the age of 18, she worked as an operator for the phone company in Preston, and she worked at Smithfield Implement for many years. She also started a business with her friend Leah Lowe called “Glo-Lea Creations”. They made acrylic grape cluster home décor such as lamps and tabletop decorations which were very popular and sold at many department stores. She later worked for Moore Business Forms in Logan Utah while also helping her husband run their mink ranch in Franklin. She retired from Moore Business Forms at the age of 57, and afterwards, she and Dennie worked hard to convert the mink ranch into a mobile home park. She continued to operate the park for the rest of her life.

Gloria was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many callings. She loved to sing and play the piano. She sang in various church and community choirs, and she had many other talents. She was known for her beautiful voice, her beautiful handwriting and her ability to oil-paint ceramics. She created many beautiful pieces which are treasured by her children.

Gloria has had many life-long friends with whom she has stayed in touch all their lives. Family is very important to Gloria, and she has always loved spending time with them! She has stayed close with her siblings and cousins, and she has been loved by all her posterity. She is well known for her generosity to many people in her family and community!
