Gloria Lou Erickson Barrett

Gloria Lou Erickson Barrett, 71, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 22nd, 2023, in Logan, Utah.  She was born on October 9,1952 in Yuba City, California, to William Goodman and Lucy Shumway Goodman.  She grew up as the only daughter with four brothers, where they lived on the dairy/almond orchard farm.  She graduated with honors from Live Oak High School and then attended Brigham Young University, where she graduated in Special Education.

Through the years, Gloria worked as a preschool aide, an elementary aide, and also worked in the kitchen at Sunshine Terrace for numerous years. Her favorite job was at CETC where she had the opportunity to work with adults with disabilities.

Later on, as Gloria came to Utah to do schooling at Utah State University, she was working in Logan, Utah and had a young man named Sidney Erickson approach her as he was eating at Pete's Spudnut. He hollered at her and called her a beautiful blue-eyed girl.  They were later married in the Oakland temple.  They had two sons, Quinn and Wyatt.  Gloria found fulfillment in raising her boys in the gospel and was always dedicated to following the gospel truths.

Gloria’s greatest joy in life was her seven grandchildren.  Her hobbies and passions were hiking, exploring the outdoors, gardening, traveling, reading, going to the movies, journaling, and family history. She was an avid DUP member, a temple worker, and a member of the ward choir-which was her favorite.  Gloria also believed in following the prophet by gathering her emergency preparedness.

Sid passed away in June 2009. A few years later, Gloria formed a companionship with Paul Barrett and later went on to marry him on October 10th, 2012.  They enjoyed traveling, eating out and going to the movies together.

Gloria is survived by her second husband, Paul Barrett; her two sons, Quinn (KatieLyn) Erickson of Nibley, Utah and Wyatt (Jodi) Erickson of Bluffdale, Utah; seven grandchildren, Hunter, Taycee, Rykker, Ellie, Hadley, Leah, and Lexi; brothers, Grant (Judy) Goodman of Live Oak, CA and Ron (Sonja) Goodman of Holiday, Utah; sister-in-law Yvonne Spencer of Garden City, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Sidney Erickson; infant son, Charlie; her parents, William and Lucy Goodman; brothers, Glenn and Marvin Goodman and many beloved in-laws.

The family would like to express thanks to the many caregivers at Cache Valley Assisted Living for the compassion they offered Gloria over the past few months. We would also like to give a big thank you to her hospice nurse, Holly Egbert for her love and support.
