Geneva B. Larsen

FAIRVIEW, IDAHO - - GENEVA LARSEN
FAIRVIEW- Geneva Buehler Larsen, 92, passed away from this life on Saturday, April 11, 2009, at the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston, Idaho, surrounded by her family. She was born in a log cabin in Daniels, Idaho, on March 14, 1917. She was welcomed by her parents, Henry L. and Mary Ann Maughan Buehler as the sixth child in a family which would eventually include eight children. Her love of God, family, and country became deeply rooted in the dry farm her parents homesteaded as she learned the value of hard work and industry alongside her siblings whom she dearly loved her entire life.

Her formal education began in a small country schoolhouse in Daniels followed by high school graduation from Malad High School. She graduated from the William Budge Nursing School in Logan, Utah, in 1938 thus beginning a very fulfilling life-long nursing career which ended with her retirement in 1985 as director of nursing at the Franklin County Nursing Home.

Her role as wife and mother began December 20, 1939, when she married the love of her life, Vaughn Jamison Larsen in the Logan LDS Temple. They moved into their home in Fairview where she lived for almost 70 years. Through industry and frugality, they operated a successful dairy farm where they taught their children valuable lessons of life.

The center of Geneva's life was her beautiful, orderly, and immaculate home where she loved to entertain and enjoy the company of family and friends. Her outwardly-centered life exemplified the concern and care she had for everyone she met. She was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, not only supporting Vaughn in his life of church and community service, but serving very faithfully herself most notably as the Junior Sunday School Coordinator in the Fairview Ward for several years. She was always proud of her pioneer heritage being a descendent of Peter and Mary Ann Weston Maughan and a lifelong member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

She is survived by her daughter, Mariann (Rico) Johnston of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and sons, Elliott (Candy) Larsen of Fairview; Brad (Cindy) Larsen of Longview, Washington; Alex of Provo, Utah; 16 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, a brother, Vernon M. Buehler of Logan, Utah; and by a sister, Carma Sanders of Kaysville, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband, by a grandson, Joseph Todd Larsen, her parents, and siblings, Ines Bergeson, Lamar Buehler, Lucille Christoffersen, Zella Jenson, and Mae Fridal.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2009, at noon in the Fairview 1st Ward Chapel with Bishop Howard D. Nelson conducting. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston, and Thursday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the FCMC Healthcare Foundation by contacting Trish Checketts at (208) 852-0137. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com

The family wishes to express gratitude to Dr. David Beckstead and the nursing staff at the Franklin County Medical Center for their kindness and caring as they attended to Geneva in her final day.
