Gale C. Moser

Gale C. Moser, lovingly known as “Guffy,” passed away peacefully at his home in Whitney, Idaho, on March 28, 2026, at the age of 88, surrounded by his family. Gale was born on August 18, 1937, in Preston, Idaho, to Joseph L. Moser and Lulu Clayton Moser.

He graduated from Preston High School and began his working years at the Del Monte Cannery in Franklin, Idaho. On June 1, 1956, Gale married the love of his life, Ruth Lynne Bodily, in the Logan Utah Temple. Their marriage began a lifelong love story that started when they first met in the second grade—a bond that grew stronger with each passing year.

He later found his true calling as a dairy farmer, a profession he loved deeply. Gale especially cherished time spent on his tractor, working the land he loved. Even when he could no longer walk on his own, he would have his son Clayton help him onto the tractor so he could continue farming—a testament to his dedication and enduring spirit. Guffy had a lifelong love of service. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many callings including Scout Master, Ward Clerk, Sunday School teacher, and dance director. He also spent many years ministering to those around him with kindness and care.

His commitment to his community extended beyond the church as he served in Kiwanis, on the Franklin County Fair Board, as president of the Whitney/Nashville Water Board, on the Cub River Irrigation Company Board, and on the Bear River Basin Advisory Board. Gale also made significant contributions to the dairy industry. He served on the State of Idaho Dairy Board for over 10 years and later traveled throughout the nation while serving on the National Dairy Board—experiences he truly loved. During his time of service, he contributed many ideas to improve dairy farming and took great pride in his work and involvement in the industry.

Alongside farming, Gale had a deep love for camping and hunting. He also had a gift for connecting with people. Known for his strong handshake and friendly nature, Guffy never missed an opportunity to visit. He took great joy in delivering potatoes he had grown to local schools and businesses, always looking forward to the conversations along the way. In later years, when he was less mobile, his wife Lynne would take him to the grocery store and park him near the front so he could greet and visit with anyone passing by—something he truly loved.

Gale is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth Lynne Moser; his son, Clayton (Cindy) Moser of Whitney, Idaho; and his daughters, Jerri (Amy) Moser of Toquerville, Utah, and Michele (Troy) Foster of Whitney, Idaho. He is also survived by his brother, Monte (Kaye) Moser, as well as 18 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Kaye Lyons; his son, McKell James Moser; his foster son, Floyd Gerald Thompson; his sisters, Joan (Mardell) Nielsen and Marlene (Larry) Kingsford; his brother, Kent (Kathy) Moser; and his brother, Dennis (Della) Moser.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. David Beckstead, the Franklin County Medical Center hospice team, and the staff at Maple Springs Assisted Living in North Logan, Utah, for their compassionate care. Guffy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his unwavering work ethic, his devotion to family and community, and his genuine love for people.
