Elda JoAnn Beckstead Kofoed Jardine

Elda JoAnn Beckstead Kofoed Jardine returned to her heavenly home on May 24, 2026, at the age of 85. Joann was born in Franklin Idaho to loving and dedicated parents Elmo Gordon Beckstead and Elda Long Beckstead. She was the oldest of 4 children. She was raised on the family farm south of Preston doing daily chores with her siblings and learning to work hard as a family. In her younger years she got involved in dancing and gymnastics and she was very proud of the skills and talents she gained.

Mom fell in love with John Andrew Kofoed in her late teens and they married before she finished high school but she later got her GED. Mom and Dad were married on August 21st 1958. Mom was blessed with 3 rowdy fun boys. Tracy, Terry and Kelly and they all say Mom didn't have any girls so she gave girl names to her boys. Her Mother skills were tested especially after moving to Winder Idaho next to a canal on one side, and Bear River a short bicycle ride away. She would often tell stories of neighbors calling her at work asking if she knew what her boys were up to. The family enjoyed many camping trips together.

About 10 years after they were married Mom decided to further her education and attend beauty school. She worked at Capri beauty shop in Preston after completing her schooling. Her parents helped her set up a beauty shop of her own on south state street. After Dads passing Mom moved to Texas and worked in J.C. Penney’s in Abilene Texas. After leaving Texas she opened up her own shop on south state street again. It was called the Beauty Boutique where she gained many friends.

Mom also loved going to club with her friends here in Preston. They would get together monthly and share food and games together. They are still friends to this day. Mom bought a home in Preston where she lived for many years. She was able to live with her Mother and care for her in her declining years. Mom met and married her next door neighbor Stan Jardine later in life and then she learned to love fishing. Mom and Stan also loved gardening together; they had a garden at Stan's house and also at Moms house and they loved to share with family, neighbors and anyone walking by. They lived in Stan's house but upkept both yards, gardens and homes.

Some of the other things Mom loved were card games, crocheting, bottling jam and making lap quilts for her family. Mom was active in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and held many callings in the primary, Relief Society and a lot of Scouting callings.

Mom is survived by her brother Gordon Beckstead, Sister in law Lynda Beckstead, children Tracy (Coleen) Kofoed of Preston Idaho, Terry (Debra) Kofoed of Rigby Idaho in the summer and Will’s Point Texas in the winter, Kelly (Sherill) Kofoed of Blackfoot Idaho. 13 Grandchildren and their spouses, 43 Great Grandchildren and their spouses and 10 Great-Great-grandchildren. Mom was preceded in death by her husbands John Kofoed and Stan Jardine. Her parents Elmo and Elda Beckstead. Her in-laws Eugene Adam and Lillie Jensen Kofoed. Her Brother Danny Kay Beckstead, sister DiAnne Bodily and her husband Larin Bodily,

Her family would like to thank the Staff and caregivers at Heritage Home and her amazing nurses from Heritage and Ascend hospice care. She was loved and well cared for. Also a special mention to Don Beckstead (Cousin) and his wife Joann for helping her as she stayed in her home as long as she could.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 1, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Preston South Stake Center, 55 E. 100 S., Preston, Idaho. Viewings will be held Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, Preston and prior to the funeral on Monday at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Weston Idaho Cemetery.
