Elaine Christensen Larson

Elaine Christensen Larson was born on May 14, 1943, to Erma Melissa and Reuben James Christensen. She grew up the only girl with 4 brothers. Her father left the family when she was young, and they struggled to pay the bills. Elaine did all she could to help her mother throughout her life.

Elaine’s mom, Erma, knew Bruce’s mom, Bernice, from a typing class and wanted them to meet. The first time Bruce came to meet Elaine, she had curlers in her hair and refused to see him. The next time he came, she was washing her brand new Chevy Malibu. Bruce soon put an engagement ring in a box of Cracker Jacks as the prize. They were married on November 20, 1967 in the Logan, Utah temple, and went to the Grand Canyon on their honeymoon. On their 50th anniversary, their kids took them back to the Grand Canyon, to celebrate. They recently celebrated their 58th anniversary together.

Their kids followed: Teri, Camille, Leanne, David and Kandis. They bought Bruce’s parents’ farm to teach their kids to work, and eventually it became the family income.

When the family discovered Leanne was deaf, they decided to enroll her at Wilcox Elementary and Middle, in a classroom with other deaf children. Elaine drove Leanne back and forth to Pocatello for school every weekday for 7 years regardless of the weather.

Elaine loved her family. She was always their biggest supporter. She attended every baby blessing, baptism, mission farewell, mission homecoming, and wedding.

Her legacy of faith also extended into the service that she and Bruce gave while serving weekly in the Logan, Utah Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints temple for 8 years.

Elaine was a very caring, selfless, kind, positive, calm, loving and compassionate person. She always put others first and often made food to share with others.

When people would ask how she was doing, she would say, “Oh, I’m fine, but how are you?”

Elaine loved to watch the Utah Jazz play basketball. If they missed a shot, she would slap her leg and say, “Oh, come on!”

All of her kids adore her and think she was the best mom in the world. She could outwork anyone. Her kids called her ‘the Energizer bunny’. She was always the last to go to bed and the first to get up. She will be deeply missed.

Elaine passed away, surrounded by her family, in Granbury, Texas on July 18, 2026. Elaine is survived by: her children, Teri (Tom), Gilbert, Arizona; Camille (Dave), Granbury, Texas; Leanne, Preston, Idaho; David (Xiaofan), Honolulu, Hawaii; Kandis (Josh), Polson, Montana; her brother Jim (Nancy), Preston, Idaho; 9 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Erma and Reuben; husband, Bruce; siblings, Maurice, Valene, Gary, and Wayne; and grandchildren, Mitchell and Marissa.

Funeral services will be on August 1, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Preston East Stake Center 310 N. State St. Preston, ID 83263. A viewing will be held at 9:30am -10:30 a.m. prior to the service. .
