July 8, 1940 — February 8, 2022

Jean Dewey Sisson

Dorothy Jean Dewey Sisson was born on July 8th, 1940, in Tremonton, Utah to Arlen G and Fern Dewey.  She was the youngest of 6 children.  She graduated from Logan High School in 1958 and attended Utah State University where she met Donald Sisson.  They married on June 6, 1960, and their marriage was sealed in the Logan Temple on June 6, 1961.  They are the parents of 5 daughters.

Jean was committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ and served in various positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She and Don served as missionaries in the New York, New York North mission, and the Tennessee Knoxville mission.  They also served as missionaries in the LDS Family Services addiction recovery program, the Humanitarian Service program in Logan, Utah, and the Kaysville Bishop’s Storehouse.  In 2011, she and Don moved to Kaysville, UT to be nearer family members.

Jean’s career was her home and family.  From starting multiple businesses to mastering diverse creative pursuits, learning was Jean’s passion.  She was a voracious reader and loved acquiring new skills with adventurous enthusiasm.  Woodworking was one of her favorite hobbies.

She is survived by her husband Don, and four daughters: Sandra (Thomas) Briscoe of Provo, UT; Kristin (Steven) Strong of West Jordan, UT; Angela (Bennet) Thompson of Layton, UT; Trisha (Ash) Brimhall of Kaysville, UT, as well as 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister JoAn Criddle and brother Jed Dewey.  She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Diane, parents, and brothers Spence, Wade and Doug Dewey.

The family would like to thank Applegate Hospice for their amazing care, guidance and support.
