Our wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Deloroes Weeks Hobbs passed away peacefully in Layton, Utah on April 16, 2024, returning to her Heavenly Father and reuniting with her husband, W. Kent Hobbs.
Deloroes was born March 16, 1943, in Lewiston, Utah to Lealand and Violet (Reeder) Weeks. She was the second child of six and was their only daughter, so yes, she was tough! As she grew, she learned the value of working hard (thinning sugar beets) on the family farm in Preston, Idaho. She also learned a variety of useful skills that would serve her well throughout her life.
After graduating from Preston High School in 1961, Deloroes started working at JC Penney’s in Preston. She met her soon-to-be husband W. Kent Hobbs. Kent and Deloroes were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan LDS Temple on March 28, 1963. Soon after Kent started work at Preston Lumber Co., they added 4 children, Tamara, Bradley, Greg, and Shari to their family among several dogs. During this time, Deloroes worked along with her husband to purchase Preston Lumber Co. They worked side-by-side to make their dreams a reality.
As a devoted follower of Christ, Deloroes was a member of the Church Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She excelled in all her church callings, and her talents and faith aided her in the community service she rendered and the nurturing of her young family. She was devoted and dedicated.
Deloroes loved traveling. Victoria, British Columbia, Canada was a favorite destination. She loved to make new memories with her family. She loved being in the mountains and could grow anything in her garden. Her talents and passions were endless, from painting, sewing, cooking, family history, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and photography. She passed those talents on to her children and many others as she was a kind and patient mentor.
As her family grew, she was a constant support to her children. Helping them with all their crazy endeavors. She taught each by example to always give their best in whatever they pursued. Her home was always open and shared to strangers, but those strangers would always leave as well-fed friends. Deloroes was a loving and devoted grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed manufacturing fun and exciting activities for all. Her excitement for life and love for her family was deeply felt by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
Deloroes was preceded in death by her parents, Lealand and Violet Reeder Weeks, W. Kent Hobbs (husband), and Lawrence Weeks (brother).
She has left behind her children, Tamara (Brian) Brown, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Bradley Kent Hobbs, Logan, Utah, Greg K. (Rachel) Hobbs, Syracuse, Utah, and Shari (Daniel) Butler, Layton, Utah, 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and her brothers, Grant Weeks, Boyd Weeks, Daryl Weeks, and Tim Weeks.
