Delores Gay Moses

Delores Gay Moses, 77, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025.

She was born on March 22, 1948, in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Roanoke, Virginia, daughter to loving parents Lawrence William Moses Jr. and Frances Louise Musselman Moses.

Delores was a woman of integrity. Those who knew her would describe her as humble and kind. She was a strong believer in her faith and a dedicated caregiver to others. As a female evangelical preacher in a male-dominated field, she spent many years teaching and preaching, dedicating her life to helping others through missionary work, planting churches, working in food banks, and sharing her love with everyone she met. Ordained by the Assemblies of God, she continued preaching until 2009, She never stopped teaching.

Delores held two doctorates—a Doctorate of Divinity and a Doctorate in Theology—after studying faithfully for a total of 18 years. She loved learning and sharing that gift with others.

Her faith gave her hope during the darkest times of her life. Delores courageously fought and won her battle against breast cancer, and never let her health struggles affect her loving, soft-spoken spirit. Even in pain, she remained kind.

She was creative and loved expressing herself through art. She adored colorful and bold fashion—you could often find her in sequins or her favorite animal prints. Her sense of style was as vibrant and fun as her childlike spirit. In her younger years, she loved singing hymns and playing guitar. She had a deep love for animals, once taking in a baby raccoon she named Bandit, and spending much of her life caring for many beloved pets who brought her endless joy.

Delores never met a stranger, she was trusting and always saw the good in others. She loved encouraging people. Though she had a mild temperament, her meekness was never to be mistaken for weakness.

Delores was a mother to two daughters, Victoria Lynn Epperly along with her husband Dwayne Keith Epperly and Leta Gail Walters, with Her husband David Ray Walters and two sons, John Buran Mills Jr. (deceased) and Timothy Paul Mills. She was also a beloved sister to Frances Ann Cox, as well as to her brothers: Lawrence William Moses III, Roger Len Moses (deceased), Steven Lee Moses, and Jerry Allen Moses. As well as a cherished Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Delores was the Grandmother to 11 grandchildren: Cameron Epperly, Bren’en Epperly, Marica Walters, Joshua Walters, Olivia Walters, Joseph Walters, Clay Mills, Scott Mills, Samara Mills, Adan Mills, Dakota Mills, and Damieon Mills, as well as 3 great-grandchildren. Teigan Epperly, Mason Epperly, and Klaus Mills.

Delores' love, faith, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and great integrity that will continue to inspire those who were touched by her life.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and care aids at Franklin Memorial Medial Center in Preston Idaho.
