D'Ann McGregor Belnap

D’Ann McGregor Belnap, living 76 wonderful years, passed away peacefully at home on June 1, 2026, in Richmond, Utah, surrounded by her five children. Despite an arduous journey with cancer for the past 18 years, her spirit, resilience, and love for life were unbroken to the very end.

D’Ann was born in 1949 to Reed and Odessa McGregor. She grew up as a hardworking farm girl on a beautiful, riverside ranch in Thatcher, Idaho, alongside her three brothers: Martin, Craig, and Jim. She met and married her eternal companion, Preston Belnap. Together, they settled in Pocatello to raise their family.

Throughout her life, D’Ann had a deep passion for the outdoors. As a child, she nurtured her love for animals by raising 4-H animals and exploring the vast lands surrounding the farm. As a teenager, she worked on a dude ranch in Wyoming’s Wind River Mountains, further deepening her connection to nature. Later, as a mother and grandmother, she instilled that enthusiastic love for nature’s grandeur in her five children and 14 grandchildren.

D’Ann’s service and love extended beyond her family. She dedicated 28 years as an educator and coach at various schools in Pocatello, Idaho, teaching and connecting with thousands of students. Faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of D’Ann’s life. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and embodied Christlike love and service. She served faithfully in various church callings, including roles within youth leadership, Relief Society, and her much-loved time as primary chorister and choir director.

Music was an integral part of D’Ann’s life, continually filling her home and, moreover, her heart with joy. Whether she was directing music, breaking out in song, or listening proudly to the performances of her children and grandchildren, music created connection, both spiritually and emotionally. She treasured the family’s musical talents and asked that they be the highlight of her celebration of life.

In her later years, quilting became a cherished hobby for D’Ann. She gifted over 100 quilts to family and friends, each one a testament to her creativity and love for the recipient. For anyone who has a “D’Ann quilt,” consider its warmth as a final embrace and reminder of her generous and caring spirit.

Above all else, D’Ann’s greatest joy was her family. She loved deeply, gave generously, and lived with humility, strength, and grace. Her powerful example will continue to guide and inspire her children, grandchildren, and all who knew her.

D’Ann was preceded in death by her eternal companion, Preston Belnap, and her parents, Reed and Odessa McGregor. Those who will carry on her legacy include her children, Brady (Amy) Belnap, Ryan (Sarah) Belnap, Mandi (Christian) Sigg, Sara (Daniel) Gneiting, and Elizabeth (Brad) Deffinger; her 14 grandchildren; and her brothers, Martin (Pat), Craig (D.Ann), and Jim (Laura).
