LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - - D. Gordon Godfrey

D. Gordon Godfrey, 58, of Las Vegas, Nevada, former Weston, Idaho resident, passed away March 4, 2009 peacefully while he slept at his home with family. He was born Sept. 18, 1950, in Preston, Idaho. He was a man that devoted his life to his children, family, friends, and work. He was always there to lend a smile and provide words of encouragement; a truly selfless man that always put others first even in his time of need. He spent most of his school years in Los Angeles, CA. a graduate of Granada Hills High School.

Shortly after that he moved with family back to Weston, Idaho where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was employed by Cache Valley Dairy in Logan, UT where he met his wife to be Linda K. Elwood. They were later divorced. Gordon worked at Schreibers Cheese for a while before going to trade school in Las Vegas, NV where he was employed as a Service Technician with H&O Foods, United Foods, and lastly Mombo's where he very much enjoyed and cherished working. Gordon would say "They are the best!" and his friends there treated him as such until the very end. His family is truly grateful to Mombo's. He very much loved his children and was so proud of their accomplishments and is greatly missed and loved.

He is preceded in death by his brother Richard Jay Godfrey and mother Darlene Ruby Koller Godfrey. He is survived by his father Delece Elmer Godfrey, sisters Geraldine Crookston, Christine Carrol, Janeen Leak, and Merry Ann Bungard, brothers Robert V. Godfrey and Ronald K. Godfrey, sons Eric Todd (Nicole) Godfrey and Matthew Gordon (Tammi) Godfrey; one grandson, one granddaughter and two step-grandsons.

Services will be held Monday, March 9, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Green Valley Stake Center, 410 North Valley Verde, Henderson, NV 89014. Local graveside dedication will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at 11 am in the Weston, Idaho Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Weston LDS Church.
