Christy Ann Ranzenberger, 48, of Aurora Colorado passed away March 14, 2023 in a tragic motor vehicle accident. Christy is survived by her husband Bryan Ranzenberger and three sons, Jaden (22), Ethan (20), and Tyler (15). She is also survived by her parents Ruth Ann and Winston Watts and her brothers Greg (Heather) Watts, Jody (Rachelle) Watts and Brady Watts as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother Shawn Watts.
Christy was born in Logan, Utah on Thanksgiving Day, November 29, 1974. She was raised in Logan, graduated from Logan High School in 1993 where she was a member of the Crimson Colony (a singing and dancing group). She enjoyed sports and was a member of the tennis team. She went on to attend Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho where she met Bryan, the love of her life. They were married in the LDS Temple in Logan on September 16, 1995 and soon moved to Pasadena, California where Jaden and Ethan were born. After moving back to Idaho in 2003 she completed a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from BYU-Idaho in 2006. Christy and family moved to Aurora in 2007 to put down roots and raise her young boys.
Christy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed serving in many callings including young women, primary and the nursery. She was a precious mother, daughter, sister, and friend who shared smiles, laughter, and peace into the lives of everyone she came in contact with. Her non-judgmental nature made her easy to talk with and relate to, and she befriended anyone who spent even a short time with her. Christy was beyond kind and considerate, her genuine nature was evident through her Christ-like actions. She was constantly helping people without a second thought, whether it was sharing a listening ear, sending a loving text, secretly delivering treats or providing dinner for someone in need; she displayed concern and compassion in all she did.
She was a substitute teacher in the Cherry Creek School District over nearly a decade and was beloved by staff and students alike. Fondly known by the elementary students as ‘Mrs. R’ she delighted in encouraging good behavior with toys and candy from her ‘treasure box.’
Christy had an effortless charm which touched hearts and helped people understand they were valued, appreciated and special. She loved her faith, friends, and family in ways that benefited all. The Ranzenberger and Watts family cannot adequately express in words their love to Christy and will strive to always honor her memory through compassion and kindness.
