Chase Douglas Saxton

Chase Douglas Saxton, 31, of Preston, Idaho passed away on February 24, 2026, after a long courageous battle with mental health struggles and kidney failure.

Born May 9, 1994, Chase grew up with a quick mind and an even quicker wit. He had a rare gift for making people laugh---often when they needed it most---and his sharp, dry humor could cut through any room. Friends and family will remember the way his one-liners arrived without warning, usually followed by that signature mischievous grin and contagious laugh.

A natural-born salesman and self-described “people person,” Chase could talk anyone into (or out of) just about anything. He had an instinctive understanding of what made people tick and used it not just to close deals, but to lift spirits and make connections. His charisma was effortless, and his stories were legendary. Chase was a walking encyclopedia who knew something about everything and could talk to anyone.

He lived for anything with a motor---motorcycles, trucks, snowmobiles, classic cars—you name it, he loved it, worked on it, raced it, and likely spent hours tearing it apart in the garage learning how to re-build it to be faster, louder, and better looking.

Chase loved being in the outdoors: hunting, hiking, camping, or just sitting by a fire with good company. His loyal dog Oz was his constant shadow and greatest companion; the two were rarely apart.

Despite the weight he carried, especially in recent years, Chase never completely lost his spark. Those who loved him know how hard he fought—against invisible battles most people couldn’t see, and later against the physical toll of stage 5 kidney disease. His struggle was real, and it was heavy, yet he remained, in his own way, fiercely himself until the end – one tough son of a gun.

He is survived by his parents, Doug and Camille Saxton, his two older sisters Lindsey Nulph (husband Aaron) and Lacey Nagao (husband Josh), his younger brother Mason Saxton (wife Shelbie), his grandparents Bob and Evelyn Saxton, his beloved dog Oz, his 4 nephews and 2 nieces who he loved, and a circle of friends who will miss his laugh, his stories, and the way he made even ordinary moments feel alive. He was preceded in death by his grandma, Marilyn Shelman, who also went to Heaven earlier this year.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, Preston, Idaho. Private family-only services will be held after the viewing.

The family extends special thanks to the dedicated staff at the Logan Regional Dialysis Center for their compassionate care during Chase’s final 10 months with us. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in his memory to an organization supporting mental health and/or kidney disease awareness/research—or simply to spend a moment with someone who might be struggling in silence.

Chase reminded us that life is loud, messy, fast, and funny—and that even when it’s brutally hard, a good joke and a loyal dog can still make the day worth getting up for.
