Charlene Miller

Charlene Olsen Miller, 83, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend returned home to Heavenly Father December 2, 2016. She was born May 12, 1933 in Logan, Utah to Lenora Smith and Frederick Bailey Olsen. She married Gerald "Gerry" Clark on March 28, 1949. They were later divorced. She then married Marvin “Marv” Christian Miller on September 25,1965 in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple on September 17, 1995. Together they raised fifteen children. They were married 32 wonderful years until Marvin’s passing in 1997.

During her life, she was a professional seamstress. She made many of her children’s wedding dresses and flower arrangements. She also due to love of family and sewing, created many of the blessing outfits for her grandchildren. One of her greatest achievements was the completion of several Miss Utah evening gowns, along with darning her grandchildren’s clogging competition outfits. She also composed, authored and sold books on how to make lace on a sewing machine.

Charlene was also an avid artist with deep skills in painting and professional drawing. She love to garden, spending countless hours cultivating beautiful life in her yard to match her beautiful love for life. This love of the arts has not only been enjoyed and loved by those around her, but has even transcended her own life, with her children and grandchildren enjoying her same hobbies. Many of her family members remember stories of riding horses to school and how life was being raised during the Great Depression.

She was an avid reader until her eyesight became bad and in stride began to continue that enjoyment listening to books on tape.She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served faithfully to her last days.

She is survived by her children Scott, Paul, Jana, Kim, Jody, Holly, Beckie, Kathy,  Glen, Gail, Debbie and over 100 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Ray, and a sister Kay. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin, daughter Terri, and three sons Chris, Gary, and Rob.

 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Preston North Stake Center, 310 North State Street in Preston, Idaho. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home and Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the stake center. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted and appreciated to assist with final expenses for Charlene.
