It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carl LaVon Hoffmann, who died peacefully at his home in Preston, Idaho, on July 21, 2025, at the age of 86.
Carl was born in Ogden, Utah, in 1938 to Edwin and Alice Hoffmann. He spent his early life as a dedicated, if not frozen, rancher in Randolph, Utah, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the land. His passion for nurturing extended beyond his ranching life, as he embarked on a 37-year career as a beloved teacher. Carl not only taught countless school children but also shared his profound love of music by teaching choir in both high school and middle school and conducting numerous community choirs and musical productions. His melodious spirit enriched many lives. Carl was also a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he found great strength and community. He had a deep love for exploration and traveled extensively, cherishing the new experiences and cultures he encountered.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Alice Hoffmann, and his cherished daughter, Kristine Allred.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Marilyn Hendricks Hoffmann, and their children: Debbie (Mark) Seare, Bruce Allred, Sherri (Jeff) Congdon, and Ryan (Jessica) Hoffmann. Carl's legacy also lives on through his 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at noon in the Preston North Stake Center, 155 North 200 West, Preston, Idaho.
