Calvin Rollins Sears, born March 4, 1959, of Preston, Idaho, passed away peacefully on March 21st, surrounded by family and love. Calvin faced significant health challenges in his final years, meeting them with the same strength, grit, and stubborn determination that defined his life. He battled through those struggles with remarkable courage, holding on for as long as he could for the people he loved. Calvin was strong in every sense of the word. Anyone who knew him could tell you he understood how to have fun and raise a little hell. He loved riding horses, hunting, and being out in nature.
He was a cowboy through and through. He was happiest in the mountains, living the cowboy life that shaped his spirit and grounded his soul. He had a gift for leather working, creating pieces that carried his craftsmanship and personality in every stitch. In his later years, he shared a special bond with his nephew, Dallas Sears, with whom he found endless laughter, mischief, and companionship. Calvin lived life with a boldness that drew people in, and a kindness that kept them close.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Murray Sears and Lester Parley Sears; his siblings Paul Sears, Clark Sears, Raedene McCombs; and his granddaughter Mariah Lindsay. He is survived by his brother Doyle Sears (Wendy); his children Bobbie Credille (Johnny), William Sears (Karissa), Colton Sears (Keegan Swing), Carson Sears, Kallie Sears, and Mary Lindsay (Wyatt); his grandchildren Kourtney Castro, Kailey Anne, Tristan Sears, Tinley Weeks, Mary Jayde Lindsay, Drake Lindsay, Kyzer Hansen, Evan Swing, and Ashlynn Sears; and his great‑granddaughter Sereniti Castro.
Calvin was one of the most loving people you could ever meet. His love didn’t always show up in traditional ways, but it ran deep and true. He welcomed everyone into the family, offering acceptance, laughter, and a place to belong. He had a way of bringing joy into the room, a master of fun whose spirit will continue to echo in every moment of happiness he helped create.
