Brian H. Hyde

Brian H. Hyde, a lifelong resident of the Preston, Idaho, area, passed away on August 16, 2026 after a remarkable life filled with family, friendship, hard work, horses, and a love for the Western way of life.

Brian was born September 30, 1947, in Logan, Utah, to Wesley “Pete” Hyde and Oneta Hall Hyde. He grew up in Fairview, Idaho, with his brothers Jon and Sid and sister Jolene. His childhood was filled with family, neighbors, school, sports, farm work, and countless adventures that he remembered fondly throughout his life.

He attended school in Fairview and Preston, where he played football and developed lifelong friendships. After high school, Brian worked a variety of jobs before being drafted into the United States Army in December 1966. He completed basic and advanced training and later served in South Korea as a reconnaissance sergeant with C Battery, 5th of the 38th Artillery. His military service was an important chapter in his life.

Brian married his high school sweetheart, Kathy, on May 7, 1967, in the Fairview church. Their marriage of more than five decades was built on love, family, humor, and a lifetime of shared experiences. After Brian retired, he and Kathy spent even more time together, becoming not only husband and wife but best friends.

Brian devoted 43 years of his working life to Intermountain Farmers Associaton, following in the footsteps of his father, who had spent 29 years with IFA or Utah Poultry. Together, their careers represented 72 years of family history with the company. Brian took great pride in his work, the people he worked with, and the many relationships he formed throughout his career.

Horses and the cowboy life were among Brian’s greatest passions. His interest began as a teenager while working on his uncle Dennis Hall’s farm, where he learned to ride and care for horses. Over the years, horses, horse racing, rodeo, hunting, and 4-H became a central part of his family’s life. He took great pride in watching his children compete and succeed, traveling to rodeos and events and sharing in their accomplishments.

Brian was a devoted father and took immense pride in his children, Cody, Tony, and Becky. He loved watching them grow, compete, and pursue their own interests. Through them, he experienced the things he loved most—rodeo, horses, hunting, sports, and family adventures. He was especially proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren and treasured the time spent supporting them.

Above all, Brian considered his family his greatest blessing. He often reflected on the people he loved, including his parents, siblings, lifelong friends, children, grandchildren, and especially Kathy. His own words captured the gratitude he felt for his life: “A great life I have had that I have shared with my family. I love you all.”

Brian leaves behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, humor, perseverance, and love for his family and the Western lifestyle. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, cowboy, and member of his community.
