Bracken D Cole

Bracken D Cole, 57, rode off into the sunset on June 19, 2024, in his home with his dog by his side. He was born January 10, 1967, in Soda Springs, Idaho to Morris D and Judy Hymas Cole. He was the 3rd of 5 boys, best known as “The Cole Boys.”

Bracken, as a child, was very rambunctious and caused many “gray hairs” to his parents. His fun and lively personality followed him throughout his life. He did his schooling years in Preston. At the age of 16, he found his greater purpose and joined the US Army. He served a couple years, but his heart was always at home.

Coming home to Preston, he met the love of his life, “Lorie from Layton.” They were married on a whim in the fabulous Las Vegas on December 9 ,1989. Following their marriage, they gave birth to “the Perfect Breed” their first child, and only son Kristopher. After four more years they expanded their family and welcomed their second child, Amanda. They must have been bored, and along came their baby girl, April, a short 14 months later.

Through the years he supported his family by working many hard, blue-collar jobs. He had a passion for semi driving, mechanicing, and road construction. He was successful in anything he did, as long as he was using his hands. His family kept him busy with many sports, horse riding, hunting/fishing and searching for beautiful rocks. He enjoyed teaching them the beauty of the outdoors. After many challenging trials, Bracken and Lorie divorced after 28 years, but remained perfect parents to their children and grandchildren. Bracken always loved people and had the biggest heart. He would make friends everywhere he went in his many travels. He always said, “Never judge a person by their past.” He is going to be missed by many.

He is survived by his two daughters, Amanda (Tyler) Hansen and April (Kaycee) Cole; his grandchildren, Chevelle and Kole Hansen.; his brothers, David D (Janae) Cole, Jaydee (Beverly) Cole, Travis D Cole, Justin D Cole, and Cody (Noel) Cole; by his Father, Morris D (Tami) Cole and by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his son, Kristopher Bracken Cole, by his mother, Judy Cole-Lamont, his grandparents, Mack & Maxine Hymas and Ralph & Wanda Cole and by two uncles, Bruce Hymas and Fenton Butterfield.
